Known as the tear drop of India, Sri Lanka is home to over 300 species of bird, of which 36 are endemic. Visiting many well-known areas such as Sinharaja, Kitulgala, Nuwara Eliya and Sigiriya; our Sri Lanka tour will focus on seeing as many of these stunning endemics as possible including the Sri Lanka Bush Warbler, Spot-winged Thrush and the rare Serendib Scops Owl.

The island of Sri Lanka obviously holds more for the general naturalist than just and there is a chance of some bigger mammals including Leopard along with so many Butterflies, Dragonflies and Reptiles. You will be led by Tom Bird and the wonderful Saman Kumara

At least 635 bird species have been recorded here accounting for 35% of all Colombia’s avifauna in less than 1.5% of its territory. It is arguably the most important centre of endemism in the world with 36 unique bird species and many subspecies and new species being recognised almost annually. https://birdswildlife.com/colombia-santa-marta-nov-09th-16th-2025/

The adventure this February was a trip of classic TV moments from all our childhoods with Macaques in the snowy steaming baths, squadrons of thousands of Cranes heading out from roost at Arasaki, a Blakiston's Fish Owl descending on huge silent wings for his supper, Red-crowned Cranes dancing and bugling in the snow and of course a sky filled with hundreds of Steller's and White-tailed Eagles all battling for their breakfast.

Add some classic winter wildfowl and woodland birding, Sea Otters and odd Serow, rare Pheasants and Japanese Murrelets and it very quickly became a trip to remember.

So if you you fancy joining Dave Farrow and I for another snowy adventure then have a look here for February 2026! This one fills up quickly so don't dilly dally! https://birdswildlife.com/japan-cranes-eagles-snow-monkeys-feb-04th-15th-2026/
