Ardnamurchan Distillery Open Day 19th June 2026

A great event coming up this month and one that EasyWays has a keen interest.

Back on 2017 our business owner, Andrew Fernie, purchased a barrel of Ardnamurchan Single Malt to mark the birth of his first grandson, Callum and the 10 year period of laying this barrel down culminates next year. Obviously the “Angel’s Share” will have impacted in the volume over the past 10 years but a significant number of bottles will still be produced.

As to what happens next – that decision remains outstanding.

Did you know the Scottish spelling of whisky is different from the Irish or American whiskey.

The reason given is because the Scots, having a reputation of being frugal, have saved a fortune over the centuries in the cost of ink by missing out the letter ‘e’.

I’ll leave it up to you to decide if this is the real reason or not 😉

We’ve shared the West Highland Way many times before… but every walker experiences a different version of it. Thank you to our walker Susan for sending these in, and taking us along with her.

96 miles of ever changing landscapes, one moment you’re in the midst of moody hills, low mist surrounding you and the next your in blue skies, mountains gleaming in the sun.

Challenging? Yes. Boring? Never! And that’s why we love it.

Breathe that view in 😍

Our walker Jo, kindly sent us lots of photos of both her recent back to back walks (the Great Glen Way and West Highland Way).

Her blog on the walk is a fantastic read and we have shared the link below, along with our favourite Great Glen pictures.

Adding arguably the most important picture of all from last week- the one with the IRN-BRU!

Did you know that in every country in the world Coca Cola is the number one selling soft drink, except right here in Scotland.

Therefore it was only right that Easyways supplied the French group with a taste of Scotland's National Drink and Favourite Biscuit, Shortbread. Talk about a perfect pairing.

We heard on the grapevine Irn Bru sales in France are now through the roof..

On Wednesday, we made our first visit of the year to Conic Hill to assist with a group of French students and teachers who are visiting Scotland as part of a learning study project.

The weather was a challenge nevertheless the group managed to make the ascent and back to Balmaha Base Camp safely without incident. Everyone was excited by the experience as Scotland lived up to it’s reputation of four seasons in one day (afternoon actually)

All received a shot of Irn Bru and piece of shortbread as reward for completing the circuit !

February is for flavour — and few walks deliver it quite like the Speyside Way. 🥃

Running through the heart of Scotland’s most famous whisky region, the Speyside Way is almost overlaid by the Malt Whisky Trail (https://maltwhiskytrail.com) placing walkers right in the centre of the largest concentration of distilleries in the North Highlands — rivalled only by Islay.

The route winds through gentle riverside paths, rolling hills and welcoming villages, with renowned distilleries such as Aberlour, Strathisla, Glen Grant and many more sitting just moments from the trail. It’s a walk where landscape, local stories and single malts naturally intertwine.

With an EasyWays walking tour, there’s the opportunity to combine your daily walk with a distillery visit along the way — just ask for advice at the time of booking, and we’ll help shape a route that suits your pace (and your palate)
