Two game drives, two completely different experiences — and one unforgettable day in the wild. 🦓🦒🦏🦁

Wrapped up against the freezing morning air with ponchos and hot water bottles, we headed into the national park just as the sun began to rise. Endless open plains greeted us, filled with zebra and their adorable foals, each zebra carrying its own unique stripe pattern like a fingerprint. Along the way we spotted kudu, springbok, wildebeest and more, all peacefully coexisting in nature’s perfect balance.

After some lunch and poolside recovery, the afternoon took us into the Ongava private reserve, where the wildlife encounters became even more surreal. Rhino, elephants, giraffes… and then the call came over the radio: Lions.

Two male brothers lay sleeping beside the track, completely unbothered by our presence as they digested the previous day’s kill. Watching them in total silence felt like stepping into another world entirely.

As the sun began to set, we stopped for sundowners overlooking the plains, surrounded by grazing giraffes and wandering wildebeest. In that moment, it felt like nothing existed beyond the mountains around us — just nature, peace, and gratitude.

And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, two enormous bull elephants appeared beside the track on our way back to the lodge. A final reminder of how humbling and breathtaking the wild can be.

Namibia delivered landscapes unlike anywhere else on earth. Endless gravel roads, towering dunes and unforgettable sunsets at Sossusvlei set the scene — but the true challenge was climbing “Big Daddy”, one of the world’s tallest sand dunes.

More than 300 metres high, every step in the desert heat tested both stamina and determination. Guided by the local philosophy of “slowly, slowly”, reaching the summit rewarded us with breathtaking panoramic views and an exhilarating descent down the dunes. A reminder that the best travel experiences combine adventure, perspective and personal achievement
