Heritage is all around us 💙 Sometimes we just need to stop to enjoy it.

This weekend, European Heritage Open Days celebrates the places, stories and traditions that shape our communities.

And that feels very close to home for us.

Discover Portrush Walking Tours grew from a simple idea – that the stories of Portrush are worth sharing.

As part of Portrush Heritage Group, we’ve spent years collecting memories, recording local history and finding new ways to keep the story of our town alive. This summer, with support from The 153rd Open Legacy Fund, we took another step – training local guides and bringing those stories to life through Discover Portrush Walking Tours.

Because heritage isn’t only found behind the doors of historic buildings.

It’s in our harbour and our coastline. In the stories of shipwrecks and rescues. In the arrival of the railway and the generations who came here for their holidays. It’s in familiar buildings, old photographs, family memories – and the stories people share with us as we walk.

That’s what we love about our tours. Every walk is a conversation between people and place.

And perhaps that’s one of the best ways to care for our heritage: to notice it, talk about it and pass its stories on.

100 visitors – thank you for walking with us! 💙

On the final day of summer, we’ve reached a very special milestone – 100 people have now joined a Discover Portrush Walking Tour.

From all of us – Evie, Sharon, Maria, Brian, Peter, Eamon, Alex, Sam and Alan – a huge thank you.

Thank you for walking with us, listening to our stories, sharing your own memories, asking questions, having a laugh and helping make our first summer one we’ll remember.

We’ve welcomed visitors from near and far, as well as plenty of familiar local faces, and every group has brought something different to the walk. That’s been one of our favourite parts of the experience.

And while summer may be ending, we’re not going anywhere! 🍂🌊

From San Francisco to the North Coast

Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming two wonderful guests from San Francisco, staying at The Marcus Portrush, who chose to spend part of their visit exploring Portrush with us.

Great company, plenty of conversation and a chance to share some of the stories that make this place much more than a beautiful view. Thank you both for joining us and for supporting what we’re building here in Portrush. 💙
