Well done to Rachael and Jess who summited Kilimanjaro with us last week. What makes this even more special is that Jess first travelled with us in 2001 as part of our school trip, Africamp program, which still runs every summer to this day. At that time, as part of the Africamp program she climbed Africa's second highest peak, Mt Kenya, which you can occasionally see from Kilimanjaro. She has now surpassed that by standing on the Roof of Africa!
Fancy following in their footsteps? We have scheduled climbs via the Lemosho, Machame, Rongai and the Northern Circuit route all year round. With our own company in Tanzania and 4 decades of experience, with wonderful guides like Kamanda and Romli who you can see in the photos, you can be assured that you're in good hands! https://www.adventurealternative.com/tanzania/climb-mount-kilimanjaro/

Our trekkers on the Manaslu Circuit have completed their journey with our senior guide and Everest summiteer, Pasang Lhamu - and what a journey they've had reaching the Nepal / Tibet border and crossing the Larke Pass at 5106m! Well done everyone!

Our family team are doing brilliantly on Nepal's Manaslu trek. The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a high-altitude loop that circles Mount Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain on the planet at 8,163 metres. It is widely considered one of the best treks in Nepal offering a raw wilderness experience through deep river gorges, suspension bridges, and traditional Tibetan-influenced villages. It is in a restricted zone, with far less people compared to the Annapurna Circuit or Everest trail. It is an escape and a joy to walk amongst the valleys, passing wild Himalayan goats and enjoying the hospitality of the peaceful small communities where we stay.

Do you fancy escaping? Unplugging from hectic schedules? This is a 7 day adventurous trip (with 5 days trekking) on the wild side of Africa! A walking safari in the Ngorongoro Highlands offers a completely different kind of wildlife experience, one that is immersive, intimate, and deeply connected to the landscape. A walking safari isn’t about ticking off the “Big Five”; it’s about feeling the scale of the landscape, learning tracks, plants, and Maasai survival knowledge, alongside experiencing wildlife at eye level, rather than from a vehicle. You step back in time, your senses develop a primeval instinct; you become connected to your surroundings. You hear every twig snap, smell every sent on the breeze, feel the directional shift of the wind against your skin, as your eyes, hyper alert, scan the trees and bush ahead. What a start to 2026 for us at Adventure Alternative!
We have been working hard for our clients to organise the logistics and infrastructure required to run their inspirational challenge - The World’s Highest Marathon. We are over the moon to report that, pending Guinness verification, and despite brutal conditions, five brave runners completed the World’s Highest Marathon - running 42.2km from an extraordinary start height of 6,893 metres at the summit of the World’s highest volcano, Chile’s, Ojos del Salado.
A gruelling 12-hour overnight climb was needed to just reach the start line, during which the team faced winds gusting up to 100kph, temperatures as low as -12°c (-30°c with wind chill), and then they had the marathon itself taking over 16 hours! It truly did push people to their limits, but what an achievement!
Huge congratulations must go to everyone who took part in the whole adventure over the last couple of weeks: the unbelievable runners, the team, our support & logistics teams from Adventure Alternative and our partners , the film crew from .productions, and our wonderful photographer . We will continue to share, photos, updates and blogs from our MD, .bate who managed everything on the ground in Chile during this impressive and quite exceptional challenge.

Building on the incredible success of the World’s Deepest Marathon, BecomingX is thrilled to officially announce the World’s Highest Marathon - an extraordinary challenge taking place in February 2026 on Ojos del Salado, the world’s tallest volcano at 6,893m.

The team will attempt a full marathon through some of the planet’s most unforgiving terrain, with temperatures varying between -25°c and + 25°c, winds likely exceeding 80kph, and with just 44% of the oxygen at the summit (when compared with sea level). It will take two weeks just to acclimatise to make it safely to the start line, and 9 hours of climbing before the marathon even begins!

An absolute once-in-a-lifetime challenge that will set two world records if successful.

The marathon team, made up of elite climbers and ambitious adventurers, will be joined by an incredible support team of eight trekkers and guides who will help the team reach the summit and provide critical aid throughout the race - we couldn’t do it without them.

Once again, this expedition aims to showcase ’s mission - to demonstrate that we all have the potential to achieve extraordinary things and push the boundaries of what we believe is possible.
