Adventure Alternative organised and led the World's Highest Marathon which was the brainchild of BecomingX. The expedition was filmed and sponsored by Ford.

Back in February Adventure Alternative set off to Ojos del Salado with BecomingX where our MD, Gavin Bate, led and managed the logistics with our partners @ High Mountain Expeditions, which led to the successful setting of two official Guinness World Records. Here's a teaser of that journey and what's coming soon to You-Tube.

Our trekkers on the Manaslu Circuit have completed their journey with our senior guide and Everest summiteer, Pasang Lhamu - and what a journey they've had reaching the Nepal / Tibet border and crossing the Larke Pass at 5106m! Well done everyone!

Our family team are doing brilliantly on Nepal's Manaslu trek. The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a high-altitude loop that circles Mount Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain on the planet at 8,163 metres. It is widely considered one of the best treks in Nepal offering a raw wilderness experience through deep river gorges, suspension bridges, and traditional Tibetan-influenced villages. It is in a restricted zone, with far less people compared to the Annapurna Circuit or Everest trail. It is an escape and a joy to walk amongst the valleys, passing wild Himalayan goats and enjoying the hospitality of the peaceful small communities where we stay.

Do you fancy escaping? Unplugging from hectic schedules? This is a 7 day adventurous trip (with 5 days trekking) on the wild side of Africa! A walking safari in the Ngorongoro Highlands offers a completely different kind of wildlife experience, one that is immersive, intimate, and deeply connected to the landscape. A walking safari isn’t about ticking off the “Big Five”; it’s about feeling the scale of the landscape, learning tracks, plants, and Maasai survival knowledge, alongside experiencing wildlife at eye level, rather than from a vehicle. You step back in time, your senses develop a primeval instinct; you become connected to your surroundings. You hear every twig snap, smell every sent on the breeze, feel the directional shift of the wind against your skin, as your eyes, hyper alert, scan the trees and bush ahead. What a start to 2026 for us at Adventure Alternative!
We have been working hard for our clients to organise the logistics and infrastructure required to run their inspirational challenge - The World’s Highest Marathon. We are over the moon to report that, pending Guinness verification, and despite brutal conditions, five brave runners completed the World’s Highest Marathon - running 42.2km from an extraordinary start height of 6,893 metres at the summit of the World’s highest volcano, Chile’s, Ojos del Salado.
A gruelling 12-hour overnight climb was needed to just reach the start line, during which the team faced winds gusting up to 100kph, temperatures as low as -12°c (-30°c with wind chill), and then they had the marathon itself taking over 16 hours! It truly did push people to their limits, but what an achievement!
Huge congratulations must go to everyone who took part in the whole adventure over the last couple of weeks: the unbelievable runners, the team, our support & logistics teams from Adventure Alternative and our partners , the film crew from .productions, and our wonderful photographer . We will continue to share, photos, updates and blogs from our MD, .bate who managed everything on the ground in Chile during this impressive and quite exceptional challenge.
