I spent an entire month adventuring across this incredible island, not just visiting the popular tourist spots, but driving its roads, exploring its villages and discovering the Zanzibar that you won’t always find in the brochures.

From the history and winding streets of Stone Town to the turquoise waters of the island; from hidden lagoons, turtle sanctuaries, to tiny islands, secluded beaches, sandbanks and unforgettable dhow experiences. Zanzibar offers a completely different experience around every corner.

A safari may be remembered for the animals… but it’s the people behind the journey who make it extraordinary. 🐆

This is Tanzania - no fences, nothing staged, just wild animals living freely in their own home.

When a leopard appears in a tree or a family of elephants walks towards the vehicle, your guide is already reading the situation.

They know how close is close enough. When to stop. When to move. When to switch off the engine and simply wait.

They understand the tracks, the warning calls, the landscape and the smallest changes in an animal’s behaviour. That knowledge allows you to witness the Serengeti naturally, respectfully and, most importantly, safely.

My journey through the Serengeti was organised with travelling from the Northern Serengeti at Kogatende through to Central Serengeti near Seronera.

The guiding was exceptional. Nothing felt rushed or staged. We searched, we waited, we listened, and sometimes the most incredible moments found us.

Two camps. Two sides of the Serengeti. One experience I’ll never forget.

Safari isn’t only about what you see out on the plains. It’s also about where you come back to at the end of the day…and this was camp life with Tamu Tamu experienced with

My journey started at Tamu Tamu North, in the Kogatende area of the Northern Serengeti, before travelling through the Serengeti to Tamu Tamu Central, near Seronera.

Two different locations. Two different camp experiences. But that same incredible feeling of being completely immersed in the African wilderness.

And these camps really are something special.

Beautiful, luxurious tented accommodation right in the middle of the Serengeti, complete with outdoor showers… if you dare!

The food was impeccable, but what really made my stays were the people. The Tamu Tamu staff were truly amazing - warm, attentive and always there to look after you.

You’re personally es**rted whenever you move from one location to another around camp, making sure you’re safe at all times while the wildlife of the Serengeti quite literally carries on around you.

There’s something quite surreal about needing an es**rt just to walk back to your tent… but when your neighbours are the wildlife of the Serengeti, you soon understand why!

Waking up surrounded by the sounds of the bush.
Coffee with views you simply can’t recreate.
Sundowners after a day exploring.
Incredible food under African skies.
And falling asleep knowing the wildlife is quite literally out there beyond your tent.

This is the side of safari you don’t always see - camp life.

And for me, it became just as much a part of the experience as the safari itself.

If the Serengeti is on your bucket list, don’t just think about the game drives. Where you stay - and where in the Serengeti you stay - becomes part of the adventure too.

But the question is… would you brave that outdoor shower in the middle of the Serengeti?

Some places don’t need a filter… the sky does all the work.

One night in another little piece of paradise at tucked away in Michamvi Kae on Zanzibar’s beautiful east coast - and wow, what a sky this was.

As the sun started to disappear, the whole resort seemed to change colour with it. Gold, pink, orange and purple swept across the sky, reflecting over the Indian Ocean and completely transforming everything below.

Then there was that pier… stretching out across the water to the stunning bar at the very end. 🍸🌴

Getting Baba up into the sky to capture it all from above was an absolute must. ❤️ From the air, you could really see just how many colours Zanzibar decided to throw at me that evening.

🚁 Forget the traffic… this is how you travel across Zanzibar. 🌴

Being whisked across the island with Riya Concierge, arriving at the helipad and then taking to the skies with Tropic Helicopters was an experience I won’t forget in a hurry. 🤩

Seeing Zanzibar from above is something else entirely, endless turquoise ocean, white-sand coastline, tiny villages and that incredible patchwork of the island beneath you. And travelling from one side of Zanzibar to the other by helicopter? Now that’s a transfer. 🚁🌊

Both Tropic Helicopters and Riya Concierge were absolutely top-notch from start to finish. Professional, seamless and genuinely exceptional service.

MY LAST DAY IN PARADISE… and obviously I wasn’t going to spend it doing what everyone else does. 🤣🌴🇹🇿

After more than a month exploring Zanzibar and Tanzania, there was only one way I wanted to spend my final day on this beautiful island — out on the Indian Ocean, island hopping and chasing sandbanks. 💙

But everyone goes to the tourist sandbanks… where’s the fun in that? 🤣 Not me!

Give me the quieter little corners around Kwale and Pamunda Islands, away from the crowds, any day. This is Beyond the Brochure, after all. 😉

And this reel is a little different.

No polished edit. No staged camera angles. This one is completely uncut.

Just Zanzibar exactly as I experienced it — captured through my Meta Ray-Bans and from above by my faithful little Baba, the DJI Neo 2. 😂🚁

Bare feet. Salty hair. Traditional boats cutting across the Indian Ocean. Tiny islands. Sandbanks appearing from nowhere. And water so ridiculously blue it barely looks real.

After everything I’ve experienced over the past month, this felt like the perfect ending. ❤️

I came to Zanzibar wanting to discover what existed Beyond the Brochure.

I’m leaving knowing I’ve barely scratched the surface.

And yes… I WILL be back. 🇹🇿❤️
