Sally Smart Double Breast Cancer Survivor raising awareness and fund for The North Wales Cancer Appeal supporting the Cancer Unit at Glan Clwyd. I'm Sally.

Having been a full time wedding photographer for many years I battled cancer in 2022 and again in 2024 so have decided to change my lifestyle and grab it with two hands. My passion is travel and I intend to do as much as I can whilst I am able. With this in mind I set up a Travel Agency and specialise in long haul, honeymoons and cruises.

Have you checked your b***s recently? It's now a full 2 years since my breast cancer returned. It returned in style and was travelling fast - into my skin, my muscle and 15 lymph nodes - very scary stuff. The North Wales Cancer Centre treated my swiftly and with love and care. They kept me alive once again, 2 years after tackling my pesky cancer the first time. My love for the unit is unwavering, the staff are literally phenomenal, my surgical team, the breast care nurses, the chemo ward staff and my incredible oncologist. I'm stronger each day and that is why I am putting so much effort into raising much needed funds for the unit.

One in 2 of us will get cancer. I think we all know someone affected by cancer who may have been treated at the unit. One in 7 ladies will get breast cancer, please check your b***s and find out what is normal for you.

I am wing walking in August to raise money and I am making another calendar. I run two support groups at The Red in Dyserth, one for breast cancer and one for any cancer.

I am looking for sponsorship for my calendar dates at £10 per date, or for businesses wishing to support the Cancer Unit.

Drop me a message if you can support my journey or wish to join us for support.

***They are back! Calendar dates are now available***

The dates in our upcoming calendar are now for sale. Last time we were inundated with requests and sold almost all of them. You can support the North Wales Cancer Appeal by buying a date for £10 to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, commemorate ringing the bell after treatment or honouring someone who was diagnosed with any type of cancer, or was lost to it. I can make the cancer ribbon in any colour.

The North Wales Cancer appeal are a small volunteer based charity who only provide funds for the North Wales Cancer Centre, who keep saving my life and thousands of others locally.

So, please get in touch with dates you wish to purchase and I will let you know if they are available. Please bare with me whilst I get back to you on a first come first served basis.

Thank you ###x

I’m back to do what I love! Photograph incredible ladies who have fought breast cancer, raise awareness of breast cancer and raise money for the North Wales Cancer Unit which saved my life twice in the last few years. So, I’m making a new calendar and looking for sponsorship from businesses. All money raised will go to the North Wales Cancer Appeal, a small volunteer run charity which only raises money for the cancer unit. If you wish to sponsor us, please get in touch.

✨ We’re doing it again… and I need YOU! ✨
In 2023, whilst recovering from breast cancer, I created a charity calendar with my incredible Breast Friends. It was an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, courage, and friendship—and together we raised over £34,000 for the North Wales Cancer Appeal
This amazing volunteer-run charity provides vital funding for the North Wales Cancer Centre at Glan Clwyd—the very place that continues to save my life.
Now, I’m thrilled to say I’m once again in remission 💖 and feel it’s time to give back in the best way I know how… so we’re doing it all over again—bigger and better!
📸 I’m looking for ladies (and gents!) who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and would love to take part in this year’s calendar.
All I ask is:
• You trust me to photograph you
• You commit to selling 20 calendars
• Bonus points if you can bring a sponsor along!
We’ll be shooting during the warmer summer months, with exciting locations and fun, creative ideas already in the works. We’ve even secured a headline sponsor—so it’s shaping up to be something really special!
This is about so much more than a photoshoot…
💫 It’s about confidence
💫 Friendship
💫 Giving back
💫 And having a LOT of fun along the way
So if:
✔️ You’ve been affected by breast cancer
✔️ You fancy doing something a little outside your comfort zone
✔️ You want to meet amazing people and make new “Breast Friends"
👉 Please send me a private message and I’ll be in touch over the next few days to chat more.
In the meantime, take a look at the 2024 Breast Friends Calendar to get a feel for what it’s all about. I’m a professional photographer and would absolutely love people of all ages, shapes, and sizes to get involved.
💭 Is this on your bucket list?
💛 Do you want a giggle?
💪 Do you want to give back?
If you’re not able to take part, sharing this post or supporting us by buying a calendar later in the year would mean the world.
Thank you so much—and I can’t wait to hear from you!

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of forming a wonderful friendship with Jules from The Red. Together, we created The Red Breasts—a welcoming and supportive space for women of all ages who have been affected by breast cancer.

We meet monthly on a Wednesday, coming together over coffee, delicious food, and plenty of conversation. While much of the chat is light-hearted and full of laughter—helping to build genuine friendships and a strong sense of community—it’s also a safe space to talk openly about breast cancer, share experiences, exchange ideas, and offer both emotional and practical support.

Recently, we’ve been asked whether people affected by other cancers could also join us. This got us thinking…

We are delighted to continue growing The Red Breasts, while also launching a new All Cancers group—open to both men and women—meeting two weeks after our regular sessions.

We are so pleased to announce that our first All Cancers group will take place on 29th April from 12 noon at The Red in Dyserth. You are warmly invited to join us in this welcoming space, where you can connect with like-minded people and find support.

The Red Breasts group has been such a success that a smaller breakaway group, The Red Breast Chicks, has already formed in Wrexham. We hope this may inspire similar groups for other cancers in the future.

A cancer diagnosis can often bring a deep sense of isolation, and our aim is to help change that—by creating spaces where no one feels alone.

We would love you to join us.

In 2022, I met Carol on her birthday while she was undergoing chemotherapy. Since then, she has become one of my breast friends and has supported me through my own cancer recurrence. Together, we decided we wanted to give something back and help raise money for others going through the same journey.

So this August, Carol and I are taking on something a little crazy — we’re wing walking! ✈️

We’re doing this to raise funds for the Cancer Unit at Glan Clwyd, the incredible department that quite simply saved our lives. We would be so grateful for any sponsorship to support this amazing centre and the vital work they do every single day.

Donations can be made to the account we have set up for our charity calendar:

Thank you so much in advance for your kindness, encouragement, and continued support — it truly means everything to us 💕

Amazing! So much fun, I’m almost front and centre hanging on for dear life! In the second spin the poor guy in front of me almost came out! Adam was our captain and he was amazing, really helpful and friendly but an awesome captain. Thank you paradisejetboating.
