Apparently a third issue on the Macclesfield: Lock 3 Bosley flight new sink hole, lock closed. This is on the flight below the breach which is nearly repaired but in addition to the closure on the embankment at Bollington (Macclesfield Canal). The only route on the Western side of England North/South around all this is, Bridgewater Canal to Paloma Lock, down Paloma Lock (booking and certificate of seaworthiness plus transit fee required for Manchester Ship Canal). Manchester Ship Canal to Ellesmere Port. Through the boat Museum to Shropshire Union Canal. (Or cross the Mersey). You can of course navigate the Trent then Stainforth & Keadby, New Junction, Aire and Calder, Calder and Hebble, Rochdale but you would need to be under 57ft in length. (The Huddersfield Narrow is closed due to the extensively damaged lock and the Leeds Liverpool has water supply issues at present).
