Oasis Overland

Oasis Overland Overlanding is a unique and cheap way to travel and can get you to places you might otherwise never see or experience. Who joins an Oasis Overland trip?

We have been operating adventure tours and expeditions for over 21 years and we aim to provide travellers with a unique travelling experience, very different to that of a normal package holiday. We believe our overland trips give travellers the opportunity to widen their horizons, travelling in a unique way to out of the way places and famous sites, to see incredible landscapes, try out adventurou

s activities, experience different cultures and to create long lasting friendships. Plus there’s the added bonus of security and peace of mind that travelling as part of a group brings and not having the worries and hassles that can occur when trying to organise a trip alone. Adventurous people mainly in their 20s and 30s, from all walks of life and nationalities. This is a great way to travel if you’re on your own but friends and couples join us too. All you need to have is reasonable fitness, a willingness to muck in with the day to day running of the trip and a desire to travel in areas where there is often little infrastructure and where things do not always go to plan! We do not hold your hand every step of the way (but that said our crew are there for you when needed!)

Trip Styles:

Regional Explorers - adventure sightseeing trips of between 8 to 30 days. Groups are no larger than 20 people per Tour Leader in order to maximise your enjoyment at local sites. We stay in mainly small, 3 Star, locally owned hotels and travel by means of various local transport. The hotels we use have en-suite facilities, air-conditioning and in Egypt many even have swimming pools! Transport includes overnight public train, air-conditioned coach, Felucca sail boats on the Nile and reed canoes in Peru! On some tours we also take one or two internal flights between cities. Overland Adventures – We use our own purpose built overland vehicles with a crew of two, which carry up to 24 travellers on trips between 19 days and 15 weeks! As part of the adventure you have an active involvement in the day to day running of the trip, getting stuck in and helping with various tasks - cooking camp meals, pitching your tent or keeping the truck clean & tidy. In Africa we camp, mainly at campsites but also in the open desert and bush. Facilities and standards vary - at bush camps there are no facilities! On the Middle East and South America trips, around half the time we are in hostels or simple hotels with the rest being camping. Expect to sometimes get dusty & dishevelled and to not have hot showers every night. Ultimate Expeditions - Trans-continental expeditions from 9 to 39 weeks using purpose built vehicles with a crew of two, which carry up to 24 travellers. A tougher and more extreme style of our Overland Adventure trips, you must expect a higher degree of hardship and to be completely off the beaten track, reliant on the truck, equipment and stocks carried on board. Again, you will be expected to have a very active involvement in the day to day running of the trip from cooking meals to digging the truck out of bog holes! An open mind, helping and participating in the unexpected as well as partying is definitely a prerequisite on these trips!

A road through the Andes that delivers unforgettable views at every turn 🌎

Jenny shared these incredible images from Route 34E outside Arequipa, Peru - where the towering El Misti Volcano rises above the landscape and an Andean condor soars through the skies overhead.

With dramatic mountain scenery, remote roads and incredible wildlife encounters, this is exactly the kind of adventure that makes travelling through South America so special.

💡 Did you know? The Andean condor, often seen around the Colca Canyon near Arequipa, can have a wingspan of over 3 metres - making it one of the largest flying land birds in the world.

From the ancient Silk Road city of Khiva to the haunting ship graveyards of the Aral Sea 🌍

Christine, currently travelling on our Eastbound Central Asia Expedition, captured these incredible moments from Uzbekistan - a destination full of contrasts, history, and unforgettable landscapes.

One moment you’re surrounded by centuries-old architecture and intricate mosaics, the next you’re standing beside rusting ships stranded in the desert where the Aral Sea once thrived.

🇯🇴 Good news today for one of our favourite countries - Jordan.

We love taking people to Jordan. With its stunning scenery, ancient history and incredibly friendly people, it’s a destination that never disappoints.
Since the war in Iran, we had placed our Jordan tours on hold, but we’re pleased to share that the official UK government travel advice for Jordan has now been relaxed back to where it was before the conflict.

That means there is now no advice against travel to the vast majority of the country, apart from a tiny strip along the Syrian border, and all our Jordan departures will once again be going ahead as scheduled.

To celebrate, we’re offering 15% OFF all remaining 2026 Jordan departures for bookings of 2 or more people.

Use code: JORDAN2026

⏰ Book by 30 June

Private tours are also available for any number of people, on any dates, with promotional rates applied.

While driving our 47 Week Fes to Cairo Trans Africa trip, RowanRoundAfrica took some time to explore the incredible Roman City of Volubilis 🇲🇦

Dating back nearly 2,000 years, Volubilis is one of the best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in North Africa, with ancient mosaics, towering columns, and ruins that offer a fascinating glimpse into the Roman presence in Morocco centuries ago.

It’s places like this that make overland travel so special - history, culture, and unforgettable discoveries along the journey.

Whale sharks, dolphins, turtles… just another day in Vilanculos 🐋 🐬 🐢

Amber shared this incredible footage from their time snorkelling off the coast of Mozambique, where the group came face-to-face with some of the Indian Ocean’s most unforgettable marine life.

From swimming alongside gentle whale sharks to spotting dolphins and turtles beneath the surface, this is the kind of experience that stays with you long after the trip ends.

Vilanculos and the Bazaruto coastline really are something special.

Somewhere between Uyuni and Potosí, Bolivia 🇧🇴

One of those unexpected roadside stops that reminds you what overland travel is really about.

Towering rock formations, empty landscapes, and the kind of scenery you’d never find if you flew straight from A to B.

Captured by Oasis Overland Tour Leader Jenny Tyrell during a lunch break on the road through the Bolivian Altiplano.

It’s not always about the big landmarks - sometimes it’s the places in between that stay with you longest.

That moment you lock eyes with a shark 😳🦈

Our travellers took the plunge in Mossel Bay - a coastal town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, famous for its incredible shark encounters. 🌊

Dropping into the cage, hearts racing as these powerful predators glide past just metres away… it’s an adrenaline rush you won’t forget anytime soon 🇿🇦

Would you get in? 👀
