Oasis Overland

Oasis Overland Overlanding is a unique and cheap way to travel and can get you to places you might otherwise never see or experience. Who joins an Oasis Overland trip?

We have been operating adventure tours and expeditions for over 21 years and we aim to provide travellers with a unique travelling experience, very different to that of a normal package holiday. We believe our overland trips give travellers the opportunity to widen their horizons, travelling in a unique way to out of the way places and famous sites, to see incredible landscapes, try out adventurou

s activities, experience different cultures and to create long lasting friendships. Plus there’s the added bonus of security and peace of mind that travelling as part of a group brings and not having the worries and hassles that can occur when trying to organise a trip alone. Adventurous people mainly in their 20s and 30s, from all walks of life and nationalities. This is a great way to travel if you’re on your own but friends and couples join us too. All you need to have is reasonable fitness, a willingness to muck in with the day to day running of the trip and a desire to travel in areas where there is often little infrastructure and where things do not always go to plan! We do not hold your hand every step of the way (but that said our crew are there for you when needed!)

Trip Styles:

Regional Explorers - adventure sightseeing trips of between 8 to 30 days. Groups are no larger than 20 people per Tour Leader in order to maximise your enjoyment at local sites. We stay in mainly small, 3 Star, locally owned hotels and travel by means of various local transport. The hotels we use have en-suite facilities, air-conditioning and in Egypt many even have swimming pools! Transport includes overnight public train, air-conditioned coach, Felucca sail boats on the Nile and reed canoes in Peru! On some tours we also take one or two internal flights between cities. Overland Adventures – We use our own purpose built overland vehicles with a crew of two, which carry up to 24 travellers on trips between 19 days and 15 weeks! As part of the adventure you have an active involvement in the day to day running of the trip, getting stuck in and helping with various tasks - cooking camp meals, pitching your tent or keeping the truck clean & tidy. In Africa we camp, mainly at campsites but also in the open desert and bush. Facilities and standards vary - at bush camps there are no facilities! On the Middle East and South America trips, around half the time we are in hostels or simple hotels with the rest being camping. Expect to sometimes get dusty & dishevelled and to not have hot showers every night. Ultimate Expeditions - Trans-continental expeditions from 9 to 39 weeks using purpose built vehicles with a crew of two, which carry up to 24 travellers. A tougher and more extreme style of our Overland Adventure trips, you must expect a higher degree of hardship and to be completely off the beaten track, reliant on the truck, equipment and stocks carried on board. Again, you will be expected to have a very active involvement in the day to day running of the trip from cooking meals to digging the truck out of bog holes! An open mind, helping and participating in the unexpected as well as partying is definitely a prerequisite on these trips!

One of Namibia’s most spectacular landscapes 🌍

Often shared this incredible video from the Fish River Canyon Viewpoint, where the vast canyon stretches across the landscape as far as the eye can see.

Carved over millions of years, Fish River Canyon is a breathtaking reminder of just how wild and dramatic southern Africa can be. Standing at the viewpoint and taking in the sheer scale of it is a moment that’s hard to forget.

💡 Did you know? Fish River Canyon is the largest canyon in Africa, stretching for around 160 km through southern Namibia.

🌅 Sunrise at Dune 45

There are some places where getting up early is absolutely worth it.

Often shared these beautiful shots of sunrise at Dune 45 in Namibia, as the first light of day sweeps across the towering red dunes of the Namib Desert.

💡 Did you know? Dune 45 gets its name from its location - it’s the 45th dune along the road from Sesriem to Sossusvlei. Standing around 170 metres high, it’s one of Namibia’s most iconic and photographed dunes.

Watching the landscape change colour as the sun rises over the desert is one of those simple moments that stays with you long after the journey is over. 🌄

Few wildlife encounters can match the magic of gorilla trekking 🦍💚

Amber shared these incredible photos from the group's unforgettable trek through Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where they came face to face with one of the world's most endangered primates in its natural habitat.

The journey through the dense rainforest is all part of the adventure, but nothing compares to the moment you finally meet a mountain gorilla family. It's an experience that stays with you for a lifetime.

💡 Did you know? Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to almost half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas, making it one of the best places on Earth to see these remarkable animals in the wild.

As the sun sets over Mikumi Bush Camp, there's no better way to end the day than gathering together to take it all in 🌅🔥

These photos shared by Often capture one of the best parts of overland travel - watching the African sky transform at sunset, sharing stories around the campfire, and enjoying the company of fellow travellers after another incredible day on the road.

It's moments like these that turn a group of strangers into lifelong friends.

Would this be your perfect way to end a day of adventure? 👇
