A few weeks ago I shared a post around “100 years of Kruger” and whether safari in South Africa’s Greater Kruger still lives up to the hype.
The short answer? Absolutely.

But choosing the right safari lodge is where things become far more nuanced.
One of the biggest misconceptions around safari is that all lodges offer a similar experience at different price points. In reality, the differences can be huge not just in luxury level, but in the actual feel of the trip.

Things like:
the location of the lodge
guiding quality
traversing rights
lodge size
vehicle numbers
pace of safari
family vs adults-only atmosphere
walking safaris and specialist activities
all shape the experience far more than most people realise.

And honestly?
The most expensive lodge is not automatically the right fit for every traveller.
Some clients want ultra-luxury and privacy.
Some want exceptional guiding and serious wildlife focus.
Others want a relaxed first safari experience, family-friendly flexibility or a lodge that balances safari with wellness and downtime.

This is why safari planning should never be one-size-fits-all.

There are hundreds of lodges across Greater Kruger, and matching the right lodge to the right traveller is one of the most important parts of planning the trip well.
If South Africa safari is on your radar for 2026 or 2027 and you’d like help narrowing down the options, I’d love to help.

Not all “family-friendly” holidays are created equal… especially if your children need more than a pool and a kids club.

For families with busy, energetic kids, the right hotel can completely change the experience – we’re talkin watersports, sports academies, adventure programmes, exceptional childcare, family suites and enough going on to avoid hearing “I’m bored” by day two.

From activity-led favourites like Club Med and Neilson, to luxury all-inclusive ease with Ikos, big-wow family favourites like MAXX Royal, and more considered options like Sani, Falkensteiner, Forte Village or Feuerstein… the best family holidays aren’t just about where you go, but choosing the right style of resort for how your family actually travels.

Because sometimes luxury family travel isn’t about finding the fanciest hotel… it’s about finding the one where everyone genuinely has a better time.

If you’re already thinking ahead for summer 2026 or 2027, this is exactly where choosing well can make all the difference.
I’d love to help you plan your family holiday.

If you’re planning Europe this summer, the biggest upgrade you can make isn’t just the hotel… it’s the itinerary.

Multi-centre trips are where Europe really comes into its own combining coastlines, cities, mountains and slower countryside into one seamless journey rather than staying in one place the entire time.

From pairing Croatia with Montenegro along the Adriatic, to a road trip through Slovenia, exploring Puglia properly, or combining Austria with the Italian lakes… these are the kinds of trips that feel far more considered, and far more memorable.

The key is getting the flow right: how you move between places, how long you spend in each, and how the trip builds from start to finish.

If you’re thinking about Europe for summer 2026 (or even 2027), this is exactly the kind of trip that benefits from planning early.

If Georgia caught your eye on Race Across the World… this is how I’d actually do it properly 👀
Most people see a glimpse of Tbilisi on the show and think “that looks interesting” but Georgia has SO much more to offer.

Think dramatic mountain landscapes in Kazbegi, vineyard-filled valleys in Kakheti, slower countryside moments in Imereti region, and a completely different energy again on the Black Sea coast in Batumi

It’s one of those destinations that still feels slightly under the radar but not for long… and that’s exactly why timing matters!

So if Georgia is now on your list, take this as your sign to do it properly!
