What if you know exactly what you want from your holiday… but have absolutely no idea where to go? ✈️
Welcome to Holiday Matchmaker…🌍

Maybe your entire trip revolves around where you’re eating next. Perhaps you want wildlife encounters you’ll never forget, beaches that barely look real, an epic road trip or a proper adventure.

A safari is not a zoo …. It’s a full sensory experience. You are seeing amazing wildlife, smelling the earth after a spot of rain, or crushing plants between your fingers to smell their fragrance.
You are touching seed pods and leaves with velvety or spiky textures and the lodge is feeding you incredible fresh food.

My personal favourite though is the sounds that range from falling rain on your luxury tent, to a gecko chirping on the wall to elephants trumpeting and lions roaring.

One of the best parts of every safari is watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee and listening to the dawn chorus. Or lying in bed at night listening to hyenas calling in the darkness….. I think it’s time for me to head back on another safari.

A few weeks ago I shared a post around “100 years of Kruger” and whether safari in South Africa’s Greater Kruger still lives up to the hype.
The short answer? Absolutely.

But choosing the right safari lodge is where things become far more nuanced.
One of the biggest misconceptions around safari is that all lodges offer a similar experience at different price points. In reality, the differences can be huge not just in luxury level, but in the actual feel of the trip.

Things like:
the location of the lodge
guiding quality
traversing rights
lodge size
vehicle numbers
pace of safari
family vs adults-only atmosphere
walking safaris and specialist activities
all shape the experience far more than most people realise.

And honestly?
The most expensive lodge is not automatically the right fit for every traveller.
Some clients want ultra-luxury and privacy.
Some want exceptional guiding and serious wildlife focus.
Others want a relaxed first safari experience, family-friendly flexibility or a lodge that balances safari with wellness and downtime.

This is why safari planning should never be one-size-fits-all.

There are hundreds of lodges across Greater Kruger, and matching the right lodge to the right traveller is one of the most important parts of planning the trip well.
