It’s always so lovely to see a carefully planned trip come to life… especially when the photos start coming through and they look like this. 🇯🇵

My sister and her husband are currently travelling through Japan on an itinerary that takes in so many beautiful contrasts - from Tokyo and Kanazawa, through the Hida region, on to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Hakone and back to Tokyo.

These photos capture just a few of those moments: the beautiful gardens of Kanazawa, the bamboo paths of Arashiyama, the ornate gates of Nijo Castle, the famous torii gates at Fushimi Inari, the traditional koi canals of Hida Furukawa and the thatched-roof village of Shirakawa-go in the Gifu region.

Japan has such a special mix of culture, scenery, history and those little moments you just can’t recreate anywhere else.

Definitely one for the travel wish list.

A message from a friend today was a timely reminder of why financial protection and expert support matters when booking a holiday.

Firstly, I’m genuinely gutted for her. She’s spent weeks organising a complex trip, and one cancelled flight has left her facing the possibility of missing onward travel arrangements, losing money on accommodation, and having to completely rethink her plans at the last minute.

Because everything was booked separately, she’s now having to deal with airlines, accommodation providers and transport companies individually, with no one taking responsibility for the overall trip.

It’s situations like this that reinforce why many travellers choose a package holiday.

When your trip is packaged, if something goes wrong there’s a single point of contact, financial protection in place, and a team working behind the scenes to help get your holiday back on track.

Of course, independent travel has its place, but before clicking “book” on separate flights, hotels and transfers, it’s worth considering what happens if things don’t go to plan.

Sometimes the cheapest option isn’t always the one that offers the best value or the most peace of mind.
