Except… not at my desk today!

Today I was on the Star Pride, moored on the Thames under a beautiful blue sky.

I was onboard with Windstar Cruises, getting a proper feel for their style of cruising - small ships, interesting itineraries and a much more personal feel than many bigger lines. This yacht takes just 312 guests, so everything feels calm rather than crowded and it can sail into smaller ports or even down the Thames itself.

I had a wander around the ship and inspected the surprisingly spacious gym, peeked into a selection of beautiful suites, and (purely for research purposes) checked out the ice cream machine.

As I left, guests were embarking, ready to set sail down the Thames tonight and head off to Norway. A pretty special way to start a trip!

Windstar is a very different take on cruising. Quieter, more intimate, and a world away from the big ships most people picture. Perfect for guests who like low key luxury, are interested in culture and curious to explore ashore without needing the razzle dazzle of a huge liner.

Perfect for the adventurous travellers who's been everywhere! This fully escorted small-group tour covers the full Silk Road triangle - Tashkent, Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand - plus the ancient Timurid city of Shakhrisabz, with an English-speaking guide throughout and most meals included.

Slightly later than usual this week - because my desk has been in Rhodes for the last three days!

I've just wrapped up a flying visit across the island: three very different five-star properties - one a walk from Rhodes town, another near Lindos and a third intentionally secluded and far from everything for those who want complete relaxation. Trips like these give me a much sharper sense of what suits who.

Rhodes isn't just another Greek island of sun and sand, although it definitely delivers that too. I loved the UNESCO-listed Old Town, with its castle and quaint streets to potter along. Lindos is also spectacular and the range of luxury accommodation on the island is broader than you might think.

Now I'm heading to the airport with a very full notebook and a strong opinion on where I'd personally want to stay.

Cruise training, tee shots and a very good wine list!

My week started with Silversea, deep-diving into their fleet and itineraries. If you've been curious about expedition or luxury cruising but not sure where to start, I can help. Silversea's ships are smaller than most, so they make a great first step into ocean cruising, and their expedition ships are great for the more adventurous of you who might long to visit Antarctica, the Arctic or Galapagos.

Meanwhile, I finally got back on the golf range, which felt long overdue and considerably better than I expected. The weekend also brought a proper treat: dinner at Noble Rot in Soho. If you're a wine lover you need to go - it has an epic by-the-glass list (and the food is also fantastic).

Back at the desk, here's what I've been working on:

- A self-guided Japan trip for a repeat client - something that gives the freedom to explore at their own pace, but with all the right structure underneath

- An all-inclusive summer holiday in Corfu for an extended family group (making sure everyone's needs are catered for, from water slides for the little ones to adults-only areas for the grandparents to recharge!)

- A family summer break to Zante, built around the best turtle-viewing spots on the island

- And on a personal note, I'm planning my own August trip to Norway and Copenhagen (if you have any tips, please do let me know)

It's been a good week. Lots of variety, lots to look forward to.
