🕊️ **If a dependant dies**
You have a legal right to take a **reasonable amount of time off work** to:
• Deal with the immediate situation
• Make funeral arrangements
• Attend the funeral

A dependant may include:
• Spouse or partner
• Child
• Parent
• Someone who depends on you for care

💙 If your child dies under the age of 18, or is stillborn after 24 weeks of pregnancy:

✔ Up to **2 weeks' Statutory Parental Bereavement Leave**
✔ May be eligible for **Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay**

# # # **Bereaved Partner's Paternity Leave**

👶 Eligible partners may be entitled to:
✔ Up to **52 weeks' leave** in certain circumstances following the death of a partner around childbirth.

⚠ There is **no general legal right to bereavement leave** for the death of other relatives or friends.

However, many employers offer:
• Compassionate leave
• Paid bereavement leave

Traditional ways often include keeping treasured photographs, creating memory boxes filled with special keepsakes, tending a loved one's grave, or gathering together to share stories on birthdays and anniversaries.

Today, there are also many innovative ways to honour and remember those we have lost. Families may create online memorial pages, digital photo albums, video tributes, memory books, or even record family stories so that future generations can hear their loved one's voice and learn about their life.

Others choose living tributes such as planting a tree, creating a memorial garden, sponsoring a favourite charity, or taking part in an annual event in their loved one's memory.

There is no right or wrong way to remember someone. What matters most is finding a way that feels personal and meaningful to you and your family.
