🥾 Things I wish I’d known before I started walking…

I thought I needed to be fitter.
I thought I needed the right kit.
I thought everyone would be faster than me.
I thought I needed to know someone before I joined a group.

Walking has taught me that it’s okay to go slowly. That getting muddy is part of the fun. That the weather doesn’t always need to be perfect. That you can be completely exhausted and still have the best day.

And that little 3 mile walk you nearly talked yourself out of? It might just be the start of something much bigger.

Trust me. Ive been on a huge mental snd physical journey thanks to walking after going through a menopause in my early 20s. It more than steps, its about confidence, community and nature. And it's completely changed my life!

A rainy one today! 🌧️

Our first proper wet walk in months… and actually, it was genuinely refreshing! There was something nice about breathing in cooler, fresh air and getting out.

Today’s 5 miles took us along the Greensand Way towards Egerton, before looping back through the beautiful Kent countryside.

And we had a little bit of Doctor Who history thrown in too! Lisa gave us a brilliant insight into Tom Baker’s connection to the area, the 4th Doctor, complete with his iconic long scarf. He even had his own gravestone made while living in Kent, even though he is still very much with us!

A lovely morning catching up and chatting ,spending a few hours together. So lovely to see everyone.

Rainy walks might just have to make a comeback! 🌧️

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland Walking Holiday

I honestly don’t quite know how to put this trip into words.

Eight women. Most strangers at the start. Four days in the Highlands. Between the walking, the wild swimming, the waterfalls, the cake, the giggles, the scenic drives and the endless loo breaks… a little sisterhood was formed.

I wanted to create a way for women to experience the incredible beauty of the Scottish Highlands without needing to be a technical walker, climb mountains or push themselves to their limits.

A walking holiday that was genuinely achievable. A chance to explore somewhere completely different and magical but at a pace that allowed everyone to enjoy it. With options for time alone too.

Less than 2 hrs off the flight we had people standing in waterfalls ♡

Six of us took on the incredible 11.5 mile Glen Affric walk on day2, while two enjoyed a gentler day along the River Ness and through the Botanical Gardens.

We walked beside mirror like lochs, through bright green ferns and purple heather, crossed little streams, navigated a few boggy sections and stopped more times than I can count just to say “LOOK AT THAT VIEW!”

We swam in Loch Ness at Dores Beach, watched the Falls of Foyers in the forest, explored Fort Augustus and Urquhart Castle, spotted Highland cows, wandered around beautiful little Cromarty and ate a LOT of cake. 🍰

Our accommodation was a beautiful space where everyone could come together, cook, eat, play games, use the sauna, sit outside and laugh until our stomachs hurt… but also somewhere with enough space to disappear for a little while if you needed quiet time.

It was important to me that everyone could have space if need be too. We're all busy. Life can be noisy. And sometimes a holiday needs to be whatever you need it to

We're already planning cinema trips and meet-ups back in Kent, and I absolutely love that something that started with a walking holiday has turned into friendships that will continue long after the Highlands.

Today’s Nature Connection session took us to the beautiful Bedgebury Pinetum 🍂

As part of my Outdoor Nature Practice qualification, these sessions are all about slowing down, reconnecting with nature and seeing the world from a different perspective. Taking time to breathe, notice, listen, touch and simply be present.

Today we explored ink printing with leaves, mirrored walks, touch walks and little moments of stillness amongst the trees. It was a gentle, grounding morning, and the false autumn is creating a carpet of Autumnal colours.

A few of us finished with a short wander around afterwards, taking in a little more of Bedgebury’s beauty before heading home.

One Good Thing providing the yummy snacks!

I’m so excited to continue this qualification later this year and bring even more nature connection experiences into our community. 💚

The Wealdway - Stage 6.

Only two more stages until we complete our long distance trail for the year!!

Last weekend we completed 14 miles from Ashdown Forest to East Hoathly.
Now named "walk of the stiles" or "are we nearly there yet", this was a tough push in the heat but as usual great company to laugh along the way with.

One thing very notable about The WW is that every section has very different scenery, beautiful in its own right.

Sad to be leaving Ashdown but now we head ever closer to the coast!

Many stiles, 1 trig, cows, sheep, frog, caterpillars and some fun signs too. Onwards we go!
