Romsey Abbey welcomes four legged friends and waggy tails!🐾🐾
Following consultation and the lead of many UK Cathedrals and Parish Churches, the PCC of Romsey has formally agreed to allow well controlled dogs to accompany their owners when visiting the Abbey or attending services.
The South Garth area, the quiet space behind the Abbey, will remain a dog free zone for people and famlies to continue to enjoy.
The Vicar Thomas Wharton says "There are approximately over 10 million dog owners in the UK, and for many, dogs are an important part of family life and mental wellbeing. Opening our doors to welcome well controlled dogs and their owners, extends our long tradition of offering a warm Benedictine welcome to all who visit the Abbey, including those with waggy tails!"
Dogs will be required to remain on a short lead for the comfort of others praying, working, visiting or enjoying the beautiful, sacred space of Romsey's Abbey.
