Two identical, semi-detached self catering cottages, each sleeping up to 4 people, children over 5, sorry no pets. Parking and WiFi. Sorry no pets. Non-smoking.

Trevethoe Farm Cottages offer 2 semi-detached granite properties, each sleeping up to 4 people. ‘Horseshoe’ and ‘Grooms’ both provide 1 double bedroom, and 2 single bedrooms with all bed linen provided. Fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and fridge freezer. Separate dining area and comfortable lounge with leather sofas, TV and DVD. Downstairs bathroom with shower, WC and basin. Parking area adjacent to the properties. Large gardens with outside seating. The cottages are situated within 300 acres of farmland just 3 miles from St Ives town, yet only a 5 minute drive to the main A30 and within easy reach of local amenities. A number of places to eat out close by. Bus stops and Lelant train station within walking distance. Hayle Estuary within 1 mile – popular with birdwatchers. Personally supervised, with an emphasis on cleanliness and comfort. We accommodate children over 5. Prices from £400to £700 - bookings are available from Easter to November.

A little update! Lots of jobs ticked off with real progress being made with the downstairs plastering and the replacing of a window with a door. The porch roof is nearly finished and it’s weathertight which is the main thing; that together with the window and door being put in and the electrics installed means the inside of the porch can now be plastered.

We’ve been back on the tools and got the downstairs bathroom floor up and our next big job will be getting all the downstairs floor levels down a bit more in preparation for the underfloor heating being installed. Lots of buckets of earth to remove!!

Getting the floor laid and finished will be our new priority as once that’s done the new stairs can be installed and I can dare to think about carpets and curtains!

Lovely circular walk from the farm to our ‘local’ - Porthkidney Beach in Lelant. There’s a definite change in the air as we near the end of August, but Cornwall is beautiful no matter what the weather. So lucky to have this beautiful beach within walking distance - pretty deserted too! 💙

We managed to dodge the showers for a lovely walk from St Just down the Cot Valley, around to Cape Cornwall and Kenidjack Valley.

We’ve been back on the tools of destruction with the downstairs bathroom…but it’s created a really nice sized room so definitely worth the extra work!

Lots of other jobs got ticked off last week including the electrics and a mist coat of paint on the walls and ceilings upstairs. It feels good to see the first floor more ‘finished’ 😀

Seems a long time since we’ve shared a walk, but yesterday we went in the direction of Falmouth for a lovely 6 mile circular from Maenporth beach, around Rosemullion Head and along part of the Helford.

It was thankfully a little cooler over on that coast and although all the fields are rather parched at the moment, it was a really nice coastal ramble.

We had a little diversion down to Prisk Cove, a shingle beach which is highly regarded as one of the best rock pooling sites in Cornwall and has a rich biodiversity. Unfortunately the tide was still in when we visited, but we did collect a pocketful of limpet shells!

Back to it tomorrow…lots to keep us busy at Horseshoe Cottage!!

How are you finding this prolonged ‘heatwave’? It’s been hot working conditions BUT perfect harvest weather!

Very grateful to be living near the coast for a bit of sea breeze and looks like another dry week ahead so hopefully the stone facing for the new porch on the cottage will reach completion and we’ll get closer to the roof going on!

There’s been so much going it has been hard to keep track! The new porch is really taking shape and is now being faced with the stone we took down from the old porches and fireplaces.

First fix electrics and plumbing have been done, our plasterer is working his magic upstairs…and we seem to have found some more walls to take down!!

Wow, what a fabulous week of weather! ☀️☀️☀️

A quick catch up - the other porch has been taken down, the outside has been partially rendered, and we’ve been up on the scaffolding today priming and painting the end wall…second coat to do tomorrow.

The aerial shot from the tower shows the digger in situ and the garden is gradually be cleared enough to allow for the new porch.

It’s been such a treat to have the sunshine over the last week or two…we had more kites visit and the gardens and hedgerows are covered in clouds of Painted Lady butterflies that have migrated from
Southern Europe. I’ve never seen so many! We also squeezed in a lovely walk from here to Trencrom Hill.
