The Lottery application has been submitted, all 38 questions and 48 appendices worked on by the Trustees. Now we await the outcome which if positive will mean we can continue with detailed planning and surveying as well as discussing the details with the diocese. We should hear in September. In the meantime, we have our next Games Night on 6th June, so come down to the Community Centre for an evening of fun and games.

Your photos of St. Peter’s church Fugglestone... Wilton , Salisbury

As part of our ongoing project to restore and enhance the church for expanded use by the Wilton area community, the Fugglestone St Peter Trust would like to create a photo collage showing the people of Wilton using the church over the decades.

Please would you send us any old photos you have of the church showing marriages, christenings, services or other celebrations in or outside the church. We would like to display them anonymously at upcoming fund raising events. Please include the year and anything you would like said about the event.

Please send them to or contact us at [email protected] or post them here with your description of the event

Event St Peter’s Church -Fugglestone
Thursday 12th March - see details below

Come and celebrate the life of a very special Wiltshire man, without whom our knowledge of every facet 17th C life would be immensely poorer. John Aubrey’s collection of information knew no bounds, he recognised from an early age that much would be lost to future generations if even the simplest quotidian details were not written down. His worth has subsequently been recognised as both the father of biography (Brief Lives) and also field archaeology (Monumenta Brittanica), but there is so much more of value amongst his scraps and notes that he never managed to publish in his own lifetime. Come and hear how someone who would as be keen to engage with carpenters and clockmakers as with his contemporary friends and associates; Robert Boyle, Christopher Wren, Thomas Hobbes, Robert Hooke, Isaac Newton, John Locke…the list goes on. John Aubrey’s curiosity and connections knew no boundaries. In particular it is his Natural History of Wiltshire that shall be the focus of Nick Cowen’s introduction to John Aubrey. Nick has written a short play/vignette to highlight Aubrey’s time in Broadchalke, which will be read by the actor Stewart Taylor. The evening will start promptly at 7pm and end at 8pm. Fugglestone St Peter Church is unheated so please wear very warm clothes and perhaps bring a blanket. There is no electricity so a torch or mobile phone would be good to approach the church and to get settled. The church will be candlelit. There are no toilet facilities so please take account of this aspect. Parking is kindly available in the Wilton Village car park (The Guild, as was) and cross the road with care to enter the approach to the church near the roundabout, through the iron gate. The event is free but there will be a retiring collection (cash or card) towards future improvements to St Peter’s to enable the hosting of more events. Afterwards will we go and raise a glass to John Aubrey in the Bear pub in West Street, Wilton. Please notify Nick Cowen by e-mail of your intention to attend. [email protected] It will be fun and we look forward to seeing you…in the candlelight

We were delighted to have Entrain Space host our representatives from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, in support of our community bid for National Heritage Lottery funding for Fugglestone St Peter Trust.

During the visit, we had a presentation from Kenny (Thankyou) at Entrain and then proceeded to look round St Peter’s and then onto the Community Centre for a very useful discussion about our full lottery application
