Police have closed Crane Street up to New Street in Salisbury following a bomb alert at lunchtime. The riverside path by the Orangery Café was also cordoned off. I understand it may involve a suspected gr***de, although that’s not yet been officially confirmed. Does anyone know if the roads are open again?

*UPDATE* We are pleased to confirm that the daily Guided Walks will resume from today, Friday 26thJune. The walk will start from the Information Centre at 11.00.

** Customer Notice - Salisbury Guided Walks **

Please note that due to the red heat warning we have taken the difficult decision to suspend our Blue Badge Guided Walks. There will be no walk today, Wednesday 24th or Thursday 25th June. Friday's walk and Ghost Walk will be decided in due course..

We apologise for any disappointment but thank you for your understanding.

Looking for activities in Salisbury around Mother’s Day?

As part of English Tourism Week, Salisbury Information Centre is teaming up with the Salisbury City Guides to run three walking tours through Salisbury!

14th March – Constable & Turner
Learn how these two famous 18th century artists came to Salisbury to paint and follow in their footsteps in the locations they chose to do so.

17th March – Salisbury Water Meadows
Come on a guided tour and see how one of England’s best-known meadow irrigation systems works.

21st March – Inspirational Women of Salisbury
Hear about the women from all walks of life, across the centuries – from the medieval philanthropist to the wartime heroines.

Each tour leaves from outside Salisbury Information Centre at 2pm, and lasts approx. 90 minutes.

Tickets cost £14 for adults, and £7 for students aged 12-18 (children must be accompanied by an adult).

Visit Salisbury Information Centre on Fish Row or call 01722 342860 to book your tickets!

Margaret Smith

We are deeply saddened to announce that our much-loved colleague,Margaret Smith, passed away earlier this week.

Margaret loved Salisbury, was a mine of information and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the city’s history.

She will be sorely missed by all of her colleagues at Salisbury City Guides and in the wider guiding community.
