The Datai inLangkawi has always been one of our very favourite hotels in the whole world.
It has everything you could possibly want from a hotel - one of the best beaches in the world, a choice of fantastic restaurants, impeccable service and a very chilled, relaxed atmosphere.
As an added bonus your neighbours are likely to be hornbills, otters or super cute monkeys.
Definitely a hotel for that special occasion, but I guarantee that once you have been you will want to return again and again

We were recently lucky enough to stay in this stunning penthouse suite at the Danna Langkawi.
The suite sleeps up to 6 people and has its own infinity pool, gym and fully equipped kitchen.
The bedrooms and bathrooms offer amazing views over the Marina and the beach is the perfect place to relax with a sunset cocktail.
Although this is not a cheap option, it is surprisingly affordable for larger families or even two couples travelling together and wanting a taste of luxury. Check out this video

A few more photos - Oberoi, Lombok

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Oberoi, Lombok, Indonesia 🇮🇩
It is eight years since we last visited and I’m pleased to say that it hasn’t changed a bit.
After a busy trip exploring Western Australia this was the perfect place to unwind and relax.
On arrival we were greeted by several members of staff and even the rain didn’t dampen our spirits. We had arrived at the tail end of the rainy season but there was still plenty of sunshine.
We were escorted to our room which came complete with a pool, fish ponds, luxurious sunken bath and a toilet with a view!
The hotel has its own small sandy beach and is set in huge immaculately manicured gardens.
The food was lovely and all members of staff went out of their way to ensure that our every need was catered for.
The journey from the airport is about an hour and a half but this went past quickly with our driver pointing out mosques, volcanoes and wildlife along the way.
I could not find fault with anything at this hidden gem of a hotel.
Thank you Oberoi Lombok, I can’t wait to return
