Stone Cottage is situated between Staithes and Runswick Bay and is about 8 miles north of Whitby. It is our second home and is fitted and furnished accordingly. It has a microwave, TV, DVD, dishwasher, washer/dryer, kettle, toaster and electric blankets plus heaters in all rooms. There is a coal/log fire in the lounge. The main bedroom has a 5’ pine bed and sea view of the bay. The second room has
a 4’6” double bed and a view of fields. A starter pack is provided including milk, biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, HP sauce and ketchup. Bedding and kitchen towels are provided but we ask you to bring your own personal towels. There is private
parking for one car plus the adjacent lane. The cottage is an old iron miner’s cottage built around 1880 when iron ore was extracted and transported from the jetty at Port Mulgrave to feed the blast furnaces of Teesside and Tyneside. The original owners lived into their nineties. More recently the cottage has been a
holiday home and we have had some renovations carried out including a re-wire, new plumbing and roofing. Where possible the original features of the cottage have been retained. The kitchen has been completely refitted with new units and appliances. We have tried to furnish the cottage
appropriately and the table and dresser were made by a good friend using reclaimed pine from a school in Sunderland. The beamed ceiling and log fire add to the cosy
atmosphere in the lounge and we hope you enjoy the cottage as much as we do when we stay there.
