Did you know that Poets House in Ely has recently opened a sister property just a short walk from the main hotel?
The Posts @ 24 Apartments offers 15 brand new studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, each with its own fully equipped kitchen. Guests staying here can also enjoy full use of the facilities at the main Poets House Hotel.
The team at Poets House are always fantastic — we regularly receive great feedback — and with these new additional rooms they can now host residential meetings for up to 30 delegates.

We are very lucky at HotelRes to experience hotels first hand. Two great stays in Cambridge recently 👇
🌿 Graduate Cambridge – King room with a balcony and a really lovely dinner. Thank you to the whole team for looking after us – special call out to Luca.
🪴 Clayton Hotel Cambridge – also a balcony King, perfect for a day’s work, finished off with a great dinner. Special call out to Claudia and Yuki for having us and looking after us so well.

Both hotels had welcoming teams and super comfortable rooms – just what you need whether you’re working or switching off.

Anyone else have a favourite Cambridge hotel? We really do have some great places to meet and stay in the city!

𝐀 𝐡𝐮𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤’𝐬 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬!
Special credit must go to Alice Dewey, General Manager of Cambridge City Football Club, for her incredible vision and leadership in pulling it all together.
For those unfamiliar with the club’s journey — Cambridge City FC, the oldest football club in the city, lost its home ground in central Cambridge over 11 years ago. Since then, this Non-League Division One (Isthmian North League) club has been without a permanent base, ground-sharing while working tirelessly to build a new home in Sawston.
At the end of 2024, their perseverance paid off with the opening of the FWP-ID Community Stadium. While the interior meeting spaces are still in progress, the club’s teams now play home games at their very own ground. With the main pitch, 3G surfaces, and a community field available for hire, this is a venue for all.
𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭 was a 5-day celebration of community and progress, including:
🎉 Bingo & Quiz Nights
🤝 A Corporate Networking Day
🌱 Community Garden Building
🍻 A Beer Festival with live music
👨‍👩‍👧 A Family Fun Day to close the week

ℂ𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒𝕝𝕝 ℂ𝕠𝕣𝕡𝕠𝕣𝕒𝕥𝕖 𝔽𝕠𝕠𝕥𝕓𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕋𝕖𝕒𝕞𝕤 – both “jumpers for goal posts – park at lunchtime” players and “organised team” players.

ℂ𝕒𝕞𝕓𝕣𝕚𝕕𝕘𝕖 ℂ𝕚𝕥𝕪 𝔽𝕠𝕠𝕥𝕓𝕒𝕝𝕝 ℂ𝕝𝕦𝕓 is finally in its new home in Sawston. As part of their wish to establish themselves in the community and to raise money for local charities and the club, they are putting on City Fest in June 2025. They are planning a 3 day beer festival and a 𝕝𝕠𝕔𝕒𝕝 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕒𝕟𝕚𝕖𝕤 𝕗𝕠𝕠𝕥𝕓𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕥𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕟𝕒𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥. We need to decide whether to run this as a 5 a side or a full 11 a side tournament, or indeed if there is an appetite to run both. We just don’t know how many teams we have in the area!

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of working from Fanhams Hall close to Ware for the day.
What an amazing "office" we had – The Knebworth. The lovely gardens provided a tranquil place to stroll in our lunch break.
The hotel has many meeting rooms, both modern and historic - and even a room where the boardroom table converts to a ping pong table and the carpet is fake grass!
There are 77 bedrooms, some in the main Hall and the standard rooms are in the newer contemporary extension.
The largest meeting spaces are the Long Gallery and Great Hall in the original house and the Hertford & Ware in the contemporary house. These hold between 70 and 100 cabaret style. The are 18 additional rooms that are ideal for breakout spaces or smaller meetings.
As well as the room with the Ping Pong table the venue has its own Karaoke Klub that is available for private hire only.
Thank you to Annie and the team for taking care of us and showing us not only Fanhams Hall, but giving us an update on all the refurbishment work that is taking place throughout the chain.
I will be writing about the Exclusive Collection Sustainability and Environmental Policy in our next newsletter. But they are the 1st UK Chain to achieve BCorp accreditation! Fanhams Hall is one of the 7 properties in the group and Ansty Hall near Coventry is the newest (going through a refurbishment now).

Our amazing home for the day earlier this week was Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge
Right in the centre of Cambridge, Sidney Sussex can take up to 120 for dinner in their rococo College Hall. The Old Library is perfect for smaller dinners for around 60. Then there are a number of other rooms ideal for smaller groups. We were based in one of the Chapel Court Rooms perfect for 12 boardroom, with in built plasma screens.
The college has lovely gardens, which can be used for drinks receptions and BBQs.

Baby News!
We are happy to announce the safe arrival of little Axel.
Both mum and son are doing well. You can see with the look on mum and dad's faces that he is a well loved little boy 😍.
We cannot wait to meet him next week!
