Happy Sunday!

The one and only Scarborough Spa Orchestra starts its summer season today!

The UK's only remaining seaside orchestra, established in 1912, performs four mornings a week in the glorious sea view sun court, two evenings a week in the Grand Hall as well as the extra special Sunday afternoon Teddy Bear's Picnic concerts that our younger guests are sure to love 🧸.

You have from today until September 17th to treat yourself to beautiful music, company and surroundings with Scarborough Spa Orchestra 🎶🎷🎻.

In Scarborough, the legend of Hairy Bob has been enjoyed by young and old for generations. Spot his quaint rock dwelling as you walk between bays round the Marine Drive.

As Hairy Bob is rarely sighted, it's up to your imagination how his little home came about, what he looks like and what sort of adventures he gets up to from his sea view home.

Whoever he was, Hairy Bob has been the inspiration behind books, ornaments and story-telling events in Scarborough. You can buy your wonderful little Hairy Bobs and cave at The Ivy Cavern or may be take part in a Hairy Bob themed litter pick with Keep Scarborough Tidy Scarborough Tidy.

It's no surprise that Lilian's View doesn't have any free whole weeks available before October.

Well what a glorious spring and summer we've had so far! ☀️

There's a tiny bit of rain forecast today and it got us thinking about our indoor provision at Lilian's View, for those who don't want to dance in the rain .

We have a selection of jigsaws, board games and books for young and old. You won't feel you're missing out too much as you'll be reading or puzzling with that stunning sea view.

If it's a movie you're after, you have two smart TVs and an extensive DVD collection to enjoy.

From the cradle to the grave it soothes and lifts us. It's our friend when we're lonely but no party is complete without it. What is it?

MUSIC!

It's World Music Day! Sir Elton sums up the magic of music "Music has healing power. It has the ability to take people out of themselves for a few hours".

Ahead of music day we have been feeling thankful for the unique musical offerings we have here in Scarborough. Not only do we have theatres, choirs, jazz clubs, pubs and cafes offering live music, we have three very special and unique musical settings!

1. Peasholm Park with its beautiful bandstand on the lake , accessed by boat . Free Sunday afternoon concerts are delighting audiences as much now as they did when it was first built 113 years ago in 1912.

2. The Open Air Theatre! First opened in 1932 , closed in 1986 but re-opened as a world class concert venue by the late Her Majesty the Queen in 2010. It's just a few minutes walk down the road and in the summer months locals and visitors flock to see some AMAZING acts. Elton, Britney, Kylie, Cliff, yes they've all played in Scarborough. Taylor, you're missing out!

3. Scarborough Spa! Home of the UK's only seaside orchestra. A glorious morning on the sun court listening to live classical music whilst enjoying views of the stunning South Bay is a memory you will treasure.
