PLANTATION COTTAGE

Plantation cottage is a family friendly holiday cottage sleeping 10 guests and welcomes pets too, pets go free.

The house sleeps 10 guests in four bedrooms, one on the ground floor.
The master bedroom has a superking zip and link bed that can be split into 2 singles, it also has a beautiful freestanding copper bath.
The second bedroom also has a superking zip and link bed that can also be made into two singles this bedroom has an ensuite shower room.
The third bedroom has bespoke handmade bunk beds sleeping four, all of the beds are full size. There is a large family bathroom with free standing bath and seperate shower cubicle.
Downstairs there is a farm house style kitchen with dining table, range cooker also a stable door where you can see stunning views out over to Scarborough Castle and the sea.
There is a small snug with seating, TV, books and games the washer dryer is in an inbuilt cupboard in this room.
In the lounge the is comfy seating on two fur seater sosofas and two single chairs, there is a lovely log burning stove and large wall mounted TV, with stereo and radio and books to relax and reaad.
The fourth bedroom is on the ground floor it is also a zip and link bed so can be a superking or two singles, there is an ensuite shower room in this bedroom.
In the garden there is a hot tub, firepit and outdoor seating.
Garden shed has secure storage for bikes, maintenace stand a tyre pump. There is also a dog shower and heated drying locker.
Outside there is ample parking for four or five cars, at the bottom of the drive there are double gates that can be shut.

This small family run tea room is a lovely place to go either if your out walking or also if you arrive early to the cottage. Parking is free and ample and a lovely place to stretch your legs, have a cupa, cake or butty.

FERN COTTAGE at Newlands Farm

Fern Cottage sleeps 3 guests in one bedroom, it can either be set up with a superking zip and link bed and a single bed or 3 single beds.

Downstairs there is a well equiped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, disher washer, washer dryer, under counter fridge and fseperate freezer, drinks frindge, toaster, kettle and tassimo coffee machine. The lounge, dinning area are open plan there is an electric log burner, tv, stereo, dining table and chairs. In the entrance hall there is also a downstairs loo.

Upstairs there is large bedroom with tv, the bathroom has a bath and seperate shower cubicle.

The outside is secure for dogs and some outdoor seating.

In the shared garden the is a hot tub for use by guests from Rose, Fern and Lavender Cottage. There is also a cycle storeage shed and in the wash house there is a dog shower and heated drying lockers.

LAVENDER COTTAGE

Lavender Cottage is converted barn that is cosy and tastefully decorated sleeping 4 guests in 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin bedroom.

It has a well equiped kitchen including cooker, tassimo coffe machine, toatser, drinks fridge, under counter fridge and also freezer, a washer dryer and a dish washer. All crookery, cuttlery, baking trays and pans are supplied.

The open plan lounge dinner has dining table, sofas and chairs with a lovely electric log effect log burner and tv. There is also a downstairs loo in the entrance hall.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms one double that also has a tv, then there is a twin bedroom. The bathroom has a bath and a seperate shower cubicle.

The cottage is also dog friendly and there is a dog shower, heated drying lockers, we also have a bike storage shed. Guests also have the use of a shared hot tub in a communal garden with stuuning views over the Yorkshire Coast and Scarborough castle.

CYCLING HOLIDAYS

At Newlands Farm there is a shed dedicated to the secure storage of bikes, then there is a wash house with heated drying lockers for drying wet kit.
Hayburnbeck Farm also has a shed with cycle storage and heated drying lockers to dry wet kit.
Plantation Cottage also has a shed for secure bike storage with heated drying locker.
On our website there are a selection of cycle routes for you to explore and enjoy.
There are also some laminated routes that you can take to explore the area.
The Cinder Track goes through the village of Cloughton is traffic free and is route number 1 on the National Cycle net work
Dalby Forest is approximatley 20 mins from Cloughton where there are variety of cycle routes

Puffin & Gannet Walks
Join the team from RSPB Bempton cliffs for a spring stroll as they start to welcome back the seabirds! Do not miss out on the chance to see the first Gannets, Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Razorbills and of course everyone's favourite... the Puffin!
This 2-hour walk is a fantastic chance to walk upon a cliff top footpath and admire England's largest seabird colony. You will get to see the latest wildlife sightings accompanied by one of the RSPB’s knowledgeable and friendly guides. A spectacular way to experience the cliffs in the Spring.
RSPB Bempton is surrounded by trees with a quiet bird feeding garden with the cliffs being a short walk away, but once at the cliffs you will discover the largest seabird colony in England. This is one of the country’s top wildlife spectacles, and once you have seen it you will know why. Nearly half a million seabirds swooping, soaring and screeching around towering chalk cliffs on the spectacular Yorkshire coast. There are multiple safe viewpoints perch on the cliff tops and give incredible views of the nesting birds and along the impressive chalk coastline. Some of these hugely popular events have already sold out but there are still some places left:

Bempton to Buckton
This week our Wednesday Walk starts at RSPB visitor centre at Bempton Cliffs, and it provides an opportunity to walk along a cliff top footpath and admire the seabird colony. It also offers plenty of peaceful places to view farmland and any of the migrating visitors that may hop along the fields and hedgerows. Being just over 4miles /6.4km long and with only approximately 330 feet / 100m of ascending the walk is relatively easy though it can be wet underfoot especially when walking on the footpaths through some of the fields.

From the visitors centre you walk along the cliff top where you will be afforded views from Scarborough Castle in the north to Flamborough Head in the South. Leave the cliff top at the timber footpath way marker and follow a field headland, then track, towards the village of Buckton. The track is known as Hoddy Cows Lane and its gorse bushes and hedgerows attract many migrating birds. At the side of Hoddy Cows Lane you will find Hoddy Cows Spring a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Following the route takes you through the pretty village of Buckton where you pass the church which is dedicated to St. Michael which is a Grade II* listed building which dates from the 13th century. At the west end of the church there is a simple Norman font in a chalice shape. From the Church cross over High Street on to Cliff Lane, follow the road, northwards back to the car park. As you follow the road watch out for Corn Buntings, Skylarks and Linnets which breed in the surrounding grassland and scrub.
RSPB Bempton is the most accessible seabird colony in the UK, where visitors can see puffins, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes, herring gulls, fulmars, and shags. It is great to see some early visitors on the cliffs over the last few days, the puffins are coming back. The huge white chalk cliffs at Bempton are impressive at any time of year, however it’s not all about the cliffs. Recently there have been sightings of the Chiffchaff, Redwing, several Short-eared Owls, Goldcrests and a Siskin have also been noted.

In the lounge you will find a lovely log burner which is laid ready for your arrival.
There is a snug if you need some quiet space, the washing machine is in the cupboard in there.
The downstairs bedroom also has a superking zip and link bed that can be split into two singles and also has a ensuite shower room.
There is an outside shed with heated drying locker, dog shower and area for storing bikes and surf boards.

Relax, unwind enjoy the views, bubbles with family or friends. Holidays were you can come in after long days out and sit in the warm relaxing water in the hot tub or stay in and relaxing talking enjoying the company of family and friends. If you suffer with acheing muscles and joints a hot tub is a perfect way to ease them.

Lambing time at Sledmere
Why not join the team at Sledmere House by helping with one of the most amazing events around at this time of year. You get the special experience of lambing time on Saturday’s and Sunday’s between 10am - 4pm on the following weekend 12th / 13th and 19th / 20th April and Friday 18th April 2025.
This a great opportunity to join in and meet the new-born lambs, help at bottle feeding time and enjoy cuddles with our fluffy little flock. You can even watch ‘Lambing live’ streamed straight from the main lambing sheds and our Farm team will give you an insight into what happens during this busy spring period. Or just watch and enjoy the Leicester Longwool ewes and lambs are enjoying the grass on their hooves and the sunshine on their backs.
Don’t forget to look out for the most endearing quality of the lambs, as they get excited about being fed or something else, they will show you just how happy they are by leaping around.
Make the most of your day as Sledmere which is an ideal place for a family day out with a beautiful house, landscaped gardens, play areas, country walks and lots of spring flowers.
You can’t beat meeting the new-born fluffy little flock, perfect way to put a smile on your face.

Sledmere Park Circular Walk
This walk is a lovely short circular walk through the deer parkland and woods on the Sledmere Estate with beautiful views over Sledmere house. The parkland is open to the public with permission of the Estate and may be closed periodically due to special events.
The walk starts and finishes in the village of Sledmere on Limekiln Hill (B1252), which is approx. 25 miles / 40km from the cottages. What3words ///left.plugs.recliner
You can park just at the side of the main road adjacent to the deer parkland and opposite the estate houses, where there is plenty of off-road parking. It is a 2 mile / 3.2km walk, though there are 3 HIGH stiles to negotiate so young children may need help over the stiles.
Once over the first stile you will be in the deer enclosure and as you cross the two fields look out for the Red Deer. If you look to your right, you will also get some amazing views of Sledmere house. As you return to the road where you will have parked, there is a path through the trees and along the fence line of the deer park back to the car, so you are not walking along the road. It is a great walk to see lots of beautiful wild-flowers, native trees and seeing the deer up close is fantastic experience whatever your age.
