🚨 Jailbreak at Shepton Mallet – A Day to Remember! 🚨

On Tuesday, Shepton Mallet Prison became the scene of a unique challenge as 15 volunteers were “locked up” for a day — all to support Reminiscence Learning and raise awareness for dementia education.

From mugshots and escape room puzzles to jailhouse lunches, participants got the full prison experience. Familiar faces like Richard McCourt (Dick & Dom) and Clinton Rogers brought fun and flair to life behind bars, while even Archie the mascot joined the action!

The day was filled with laughter, surprises, and powerful moments, all shared online under .

Tag a friend who loves MOTORBIKES!... 🏍️

Two decommissioned prisons, Shepton Mallet Prison and Shrewsbury Prison, and hundreds of bikes - what could be cooler?

On Friday 6th June, Cruise4Crews will hit the road in support of YFW Blood Bikes, a charity with a team of volunteers providing free and rapid emergency medical courier service, on a 150 mile journey!

Not only that, the riders will face a Night Behind Bars... A chilling overnight stay in prison before departing in the morning. BUT, a little birdie told us that there are still a few places for those who'd like to take part.

The One-Way Ticket Punishment... ⛵

Did you know? The Hougoumont was the last convict ship to transport prisoners to Australia - marking the end of an era in 1868. Among the 280 convicts on board, local man from Frome, Silas Dredge, was sentenced for the rather modest crime of stealing 2 buckets and a hammer!

🕰️ Despite his initial sentence being listed as penal servitude, Dredge found himself on this final journey to the other side of the world at 44 years old!

15 brave participants — including Richard McCourt (Dick from Dick & Dom) and ex-BBC journalist Clinton Rogers — will take on a prisoner experience and escape room challenge to raise vital funds for Reminiscence Learning

Each will be "locked up" and must raise bail by calling friends and family — all to support people living with dementia and the Archie Project, linking schools with care homes.

Meet OUR Team! 👮

A familiar face to many, we're sure! Jeremy is a Tour Guide and Education Officer here at Shepton Mallet Prison. After a successful career in finance, Jeremy semi-retired and joined our team in August 2021!

Being a true performer, Jeremy has spent years fronting a rock band - touring the UK and even performing at festivals in the USA and Madrid. And no, he HASN'T been locked up for his singing, yet.... 😉

Jeremy especially enjoys taking Educational Tours for curious and bold students - always being able to answer their toughest and most unexpected questions! These students ‘keep him on his toes’ and demonstrate that we are all constantly learning.🤓
