All of our planting on the farm has been put in place with pollinators in mind, in particular to help our bees through the June Gap, where wild flower nectar and pollen can be scarce…although it seems to fast be turning into the May Gap…

Whether you’re spending a couple of nights disconnecting in one of the treehouses or saying your vows amongst the long grassed meadow, it’s a glorious time of year to be on the farm

Somerset is waking up, but we’re right in the thick of the ‘Hungry Gap’; that curious, quiet lull in the kitchen garden before the spring bounty truly erupts. It’s the time when one must look a little closer at the hedgerows to find the real gems.

Take Hedge Mustard for instance. A humble little thing but it carries a punchy heat not unlike wild rocket. Then there’s the dandelion often dismissed as a mere w**d, yet its leaves bring a glorious bitterness to the plate.

There is something very special about wandering the hedgerows, basket in hand, gathering what the land provides.

Menu below…but the final few tickets are available for our last batch of Mangalitza pork this Friday night…it’s the only way to taste this gloriously sweet and melting culatello before it’s gone!
With the very apparent onset of spring, we are pulling out a few preserved treats from last years summer veg garden to lighten things up; peas, blackcurrants and elderflower will be making an appearance along with (inevitably) a little fresh wild garlic and some of the last of the winter veg, such as the celeriac.
We will even be transporting you straight back to 1985 with a slightly more refined version of that finest of hybrids - The Arctic Roll.
Oh, and of course the pork…plenty of pork 🐷
Link to book in bio.
