🚫 IMPORTANT NOTICE – SPECIMEN LAKE SURFACE FISHING BAN 🚫

With immediate effect, surface fishing is no longer permitted on the Specimen Lake.

This decision has been made to protect both our fish stocks and the wildlife around the fishery.

🐟 Many anglers use dry dog biscuits as floating bait. These can expand in a carp's stomach and potentially cause serious health problems.

🌿 Uneaten floating bait can pollute the water, reduce oxygen levels, and attract pests such as rats.

🦢 We recently removed a controller float and a large amount of fishing line from around a goose's leg. Surface fishing also increases the risk of hooking birds and other wildlife.

As the weather warms up, carp will naturally spend more time in the upper layers of the water. Zig fishing is still allowed, but your hook and bait must remain below the surface.

✅ Surface fishing remains permitted on: • Island Lake • Woodland Lake • Match Lake

🎣 Dedicated Skretting floating pellets are available from the tackle shop.

❌ Dog biscuits are now banned on all lakes.

We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the summer. If further wildlife injuries occur, a complete ban on floating baits across all lakes may be introduced.
