‼️Why check times before swimming⁉️
You should check tide times before swimming because the tide changes affect both safety and how easy it is to get back to shore.
On the Lincolnshire coast, especially in Skegness, here's why it matters:
➡️ Strong tidal currents - As the tide comes in or goes out, water can move very quickly, pulling you away from where you entered.
➡️ Sandbanks and channels - At low tide, sandbanks can appear, tempting people to walk tar out. When the tide turns, water can rush in behind you and cut you off.
➡️ Distance from shore - When the tide is going out, the waterline moves turther away, meaning you may have to swim much farther back.
➡️ Hidden drop-offs - Rising or falling tides can cover or expose sudden deep areas, which can be dangerous.
A quick tide check can mean the difference between a safe swim and being caught in a dangerous situation.
