A lucky find for one person can be a heartbreaking loss for another.

With gold prices so high right now, finding jewellery in the sand might feel like a lucky strike, but for the person who lost it, especially if it’s something sentimental like a wedding ring, it can be absolutely heartbreaking.

So here’s our question: do items like this have to be reported? And detectorists, how do you go about reuniting finds with their owners?

Good Morning 🙂 - Another fantastic shot for you! The Big Ben Tower really has become a focal point of the resort. It’ll be a sad day when it finally goes, as it’s turned into such a much-loved and much-talked-about attraction. In the short space of time it’s been here, it’s even become a bit of a photographic icon, with so many people choosing it as the backdrop for their seaside memories. ❤️

Good morning and hello weekend! 🌞 If you’re heading to the coast today, enjoy every minute, but please stay safe in the water. Today’s reel was snapped just after 5am yesterday and shows Skegness looking absolutely stunning as always.

‼️Some Jolly good news‼️- It won’t be long before our much-loved Jolly Fisherman is back on the streets of Skegness, waving, laughing, and brightening up everyone’s day.

Before his grand return, Jolly is treating himself to a well-deserved visit to the spa for a top-to-toe makeover. And honestly, after 117 years of tirelessly promoting Skegness, greeting visitors from near and far, and being the very face of our town, we think he’s more than earned a little pampering!

Like any true celebrity, Jolly never tours alone. He’ll be accompanied by a very familiar face - Cllr Mrs Julie Sadler. Julie has a long history with Jolly, having first looked after him 10 years ago as a Skegness Ambassador.

She’s excited to be back by his side, sharing in the smiles and joy he brings to people of all ages.

❤️ Everyone loves Jolly!

‼️Why check times before swimming⁉️

You should check tide times before swimming because the tide changes affect both safety and how easy it is to get back to shore.

On the Lincolnshire coast, especially in Skegness, here's why it matters:

➡️ Strong tidal currents - As the tide comes in or goes out, water can move very quickly, pulling you away from where you entered.

➡️ Sandbanks and channels - At low tide, sandbanks can appear, tempting people to walk tar out. When the tide turns, water can rush in behind you and cut you off.

➡️ Distance from shore - When the tide is going out, the waterline moves turther away, meaning you may have to swim much farther back.

➡️ Hidden drop-offs - Rising or falling tides can cover or expose sudden deep areas, which can be dangerous.

A quick tide check can mean the difference between a safe swim and being caught in a dangerous situation.
