🖍️ While you're at the beach for the Sleaford on Sea event today (Saturday 23 August, 11am-4pm) stop by the craft area and enter the Our Planet, Our District poster challenge!

You can complete your green-themed poster design at the event, or take an entry form home with you for later. Don't worry if you can't make it, the form is available online or hard copies will be available in various outlets locally, so keep an eye out for it. There are £25 and £10 prizes on offer in each age group!

Poster designs can be on any of the following topics, but must be completed on the relevant form:
1. Reduce, reuse, recycle (minimise waste)
2. Reducing food waste / food waste recycling
3. Protecting nature and biodiversity
4. Transport e.g. walking, cycling, car-sharing, public transport
5. Reducing plastics and litter
6. Supporting renewable energy

Please be aware that the bridge across Haverholme lock is currently closed for essential surveying and maintenance works.

The car park and the footpaths on either side of the river are unaffected, but there is no river crossing other than the road bridge. Exercise caution if using the road bridge as it is very narrow.

⚠️ Please also note that there is no through route on the southern bank (the side of the river with the car park): you can walk a certain distance before reaching gated private property, you then need to turn back as there is no river crossing. For a through route towards Sleaford you need to walk on the north side. Please respect private property as indicated by signage.

After years of celebrating our rich railway heritage, Heckington Railway Museum will sadly be closing its doors permanently this autumn. Don’t miss your last chance to visit this much-loved local gem.

- Discover the scenic Spires and Sails Cycle Route — perfect for a relaxed ride through the countryside (link in comments).

Find the museum in the old station building, just a short walk from the village centre. Come and celebrate the legacy of Lincolnshire’s railways one last time.
