Alfred's Tower opens for the season this Friday 3 April 🥳

Nestled amongst ancient woodland on the wider Stourhead estate is the iconic local landmark of Alfred's Tower, named after King Alfred who raised his standard there in 878.

Head inside and climb the 205 step spiral staircase to the top, where far‑reaching views across three counties await. Who's ready for the climb?

The tower will be open every weekend and bank holiday from 11am–3pm until 1 November (excluding Easter Monday, 25 & 26 April). No booking required, normal admission applies.

Explore the beautifully decorated rooms of the Palace, do some colouring whilst you wait, then spend time with Father Christmas in his grotto.

This will be a VERY popular event, so secure your tickets as soon as you can.

And a reminder that each visiting child requires a ticket for their visit to Father Christmas, which will include entry to the Palace and gardens for that day, as well as a gift.

Please note that tickets to see Father Christmas are for children only. Accompanying adults require a valid Annual Pass or Day Ticket (please see booking information below).

How to book:
🎅 Tickets are £14 per child who must be accompanied by a paying adult with a valid Annual Pass or Day Ticket. Annual Passes and Day Tickets can be purchased via our website.

💡 Father Christmas tickets do not include entry to Sparkle Christmas Illuminations.

🎁 Each timed slot has a capacity of two children. If there are more than 2 children in your family please book the next slot after and we will ensure you all go in together for your visit with Father Christmas.

🎄 Please book the right age category for your child so we can ensure they receive an appropriate gift.
