VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day) on 15 August is an opportunity for the nation to come together to honour and pay tribute to the Second World War generation from across the UK and Commonwealth.

A distant war, never forgotten. 🫡 🇬🇧

British, Commonwealth and Allied forces fought bravely against a ferocious enemy in the battle for the Asia-Pacific.

On Friday 15 August, 80 years after VJ Day, we remember what was sacrificed for a better future. 🕊️

The official ceremony at the National Memorial Arboretum will honour those who fought and died in the Far East, and feature serving members of the Armed Forces. ✈️

Lieutenant Colonel David Kemmis-Betty is the son of Peter, who was taken prisoner of war during the Far East campaign. He has proudly followed in the footsteps of his father in serving his country 🇬🇧

We will never forget their sacrifice.
