1) Leigh On Sea to Southend Pier, Mulberry Harbour, Two Tree Island & Leigh Marina:

This trip gives you a chance to spot seals off the longest pleasure pier in the world at 1.34 miles into the Thames Estuary. The original wooden Pier was built in 1829 and replaced by the iron structure in 1889. You will also get to see the Mulberry Harbour (phoenix unit) which dates back to WW2 which were temporary portable harbours developed for rapid unloading of cargo onto beaches during the Normandy invasion in 1944. Two Tree Island is a great place to spot wildlife & numerous birds along the fantastic nature reserve so bring your camera! Leigh Marina which was called Johnson and Jago Boatyard in 1978 is situated in the quaint fishing village of Leigh On Sea, Essex, along the coast from Southend On Sea. Also in close proximity to the marina, is Two Tree Island which is part of the National Nature Reserve, a 640 acre island noted for its outstanding beauty and varied wildlife. Duration: 2 hours

Get up close and personal (but not too close!) to the SS Richard Montgomery shipwreck which dates back to 1944. View this amazing sight from outside of the exclusion zones, it's not to be missed! Duration: 3 hours

Transport yourself back to the Second World War by visiting these previously armed towers built in the Thames & Mersey Estuaries to help defend the United Kingdom. They are a pretty surreal sight. You will get the chance to take plenty of photos in and around the towers as our vessel is small enough to pass between and under the structures (you cannot board them). https://youtu.be/-WXEfR-oEHM?si

💥 On Friday 29th August 2025 we had the pleasure of Fabian and his family onboard Starfish to scatter his father in law's ashes in the Thames Estuary who very sadly passed away.⚱️💐.

We departed Leigh On Sea around 15:00hrs & headed straight out to Southend Pier to view the longest pleasure pier in the world. We then headed towards the Mulburry Harbour which is where they wanted to scatter his ashes. They all found the Mulberry Harbour very interesting & was amazed by how big it was. I explained the history behind the phoenix unit & other points of interest out on the Thames Estuary including SS Richard Montgomery Ship, Red Sands Maunsell, Shivering & Knock John Forts. After scattering his ashes they opened a bottle of bubbly, raised a glass each to celebrate his life & had some food which was very delicious as they offered me some too. Much appreciated. Thank you 👍 😊🍾🍱.

We finally headed back up the Ray Gut, Leigh creek & into Leigh Marina around 17:00hrs to drop off our passengers safely after a lovely send off. They were all very kind passengers & i thoroughly enjoyed your company. Hope you had a safe journey home back to Surrey.

Thank you for choosing Brownes Thames Estuary Boat Trips & hope it went as well as it could. We really appreciate it. Big thank you also for the kind review. Angus 👍⚓🛥️🦭🛟🙏💐⚱️

💥On Sunday 24th August 2025 onboard Starfish we had the pleasure of Jordan & Julian who privately hired the whole boat for 3/4 hours of Sea Fishing. They hired all the rods & we also supplied the bait. It was a great set up.

We left Leigh On Sea around 11:00am & headed straight for Southend Pier & over to SS Richard Montgomery Ship on the South side in Kent. We arrived around 11:45hrs dropped anchor & started sea fishing straight away. It was a slow start but after an hour the fish started to bite which is always a bonus. We had a superb sea bass, smooth hound & Dover sole all well above the size. The passengers took home 2 fish & cooked them on the BBQ for dinner. What a great sea fishing trip.

We arrived back in Old Leigh around 15:00hrs to drop off our passengers safely after an amazing sea fishing with fantastic catches.

Great half a day out with Julian & Jordan. They were such good fun passengers & loved being out on the water. They actually lived in Kent & came over to Essex to visit. Hope you enjoyed your experience with us🙏.

We departed Leigh On Sea around 11:30hrs & headed out to Southend Pier to view the longest pleasure pier in the world. We then went straight over the South side to Isle of sheppy in Kent to scatter their ashes together as that's where they lived & loved the Thames Estuary. I then took them over to see the SS Richard Montgomery Ship which they all really appreciated as Jan's Dad was in the Navy & loved boats. I told them about the history of this American liberty ship which they all found interesting.

💥On Thursday 21st August 2025 onboard Starfish we had the pleasure of Steve & his 2 sons who privately hired the whole boat for 3/4 hours of Sea Fishing. They hired all the rods & we also supplied the bait.

We left Leigh On Sea around 10:00am & headed straight for Southend Pier & fished off on the East side. We caught quite a few Sea Bass but they were under sized so we had to put them back unfortunately. It got to high water & I moved to the south side of the pier & caught a few more fish. Sea bass has to be over 42cm & only 2 fish per person.

We arrived back in Old Leigh around 14:00hrs to drop off our passengers safely after an amazing boat trip with fantastic company.

Great half day with Steve & his boys. Proper family time. They were such good fun passengers & loved being out on the water. Hope you enjoyed your experience with us 🙏☀️.

19/08/2025

💥 On Sunday 17th August we had the pleasure of Karen, her family & friends onboard Starfish for a Brownes Epic Forts Tour boat trip which was an unbelievable day. Truly amazing. This was certainly one of the best 💯👌

We departed Leigh On Sea at 07:30hrs on the ebb tide & headed out to Southend Pier with the tide going out. We then went onto Mulburry Harbour, Knock John Forts, Shivering Sands Forts, Red Sands Maunsell Forts, SS Richard Montgomery Ship then headed back to Leigh On Sea & sat in the Hadleigh Ray for an hour or so while waited for the tide. Some of the passengers got off the boat & walked around the sandbanks to stretch their legs. We then made our final journey up Leigh creek to drop off our passengers. We safely arrived back at Leigh On Sea around 16:00hrs. A very successful 8 hour trip. 👏. We then did a turnaround trip for a scattering of ashes for Karan & his family. Thank you & hope it went as well as it could have 🙏.

This was truly an amazing experience for everyone onboard & made the trip even more memorable when you see history that played a big part of our lives in world war two.

The forts were designed by Mr G. A. Maunsell and built for defence during 1941-2. Their purpose was to provide anti-aircraft fire within the Thames Estuary area. Each fort consisted of a group of seven towers with a walkway connecting them all to the central control tower. They were all built to the same layout

🔵These points of interest on the Thames Estuary are definitely worth a boat trip to & can only access them by boat as they are around deep water (except Mulberry Harbour which you can walk out to on low water but please be aware of the tide turning to come back in. Look at tide tables & weather).

We had a rough journey to the forts as it was a North Eastley breeze but then we arrived & it calmed down which was good. The sun was out & beaming through across the water with blue skies most of the day. All passengers thoroughly enjoyed themselves & got some fantastic footage & photos.

Big thank you guys & hope to see you onboard Starfish again soon. Angus 👍⚓🛥️🦭🛟☀️😎🌇⚱️
