Gairlochy Swing Bridge closure dates attached ...

GAIRLOCHY SWING BRIDGE - NOTICE OF B8004 PERIODIC ROAD CLOSURE 13-16 MAY

Our contractors, Fairfield Control Systems, will be on site from Monday to Friday next week (12-16 May) for the final works as part of our planned winter programme to upgrade the bridge wedge system.

They need to open the bridge to access parts of the structure, meaning that they will be closing the road at set times each day, from Tuesday 13th to Friday 16th May.

ROAD CLOSURE TIMES
The B8004 will be closed from 9am – 12pm each morning and from 12.30pm – 3pm each afternoon. The road will be open outwith these times, to minimise disruption locally.

Fairfields will also be putting signage out on the ground to advise road users. While the closure is necessary, we apologise for the inconvenience caused.

DIVERSION ROUTE
While the B8004 is closed at Gairlochy swing bridge, a diversion will be in place via Spean Bridge, using the A82 and B8004.

It was a lovely day to visit Corpach Marina for wonderful views of Ben Nevis and Loch Linnhe and breakfast and coffee at Corpach🍳☕

We also got to see a rib adventure returning with which looked fantastic!🛥️

Only a short drive from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The stunning Chia-Aig falls, also known as the Witches Cauldron is only a 15 minute drive from The Annexe and is well worth the visit.

The double waterfall has featured in the 1995 film "Rob Roy" where Liam Neeson actually leaps from the falls into the pool!

A short walk from the falls is Loch Arkaig, which has a beautiful walk along it's shores with a series of locally made features to try and find 🔍

The Loch is also home to a pair of Ospreys which you can watch on a live camera on YouTube or here on the woodland trust website; https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/trees-woods-and-wildlife/osprey-cam/

Beautiful bluebird skies over Lochaber today ☀️

We are so lucky to have this amazing view on our doorstep of the Grampian Mountain Range which includes the UK's highest peak, Ben Nevis.
