Storm Floris was a bit wild but thankfully we were just fine here at Invergloy. Apart from lots of Leaves and Branches strewn about in the wind. Thank you everyone for your well wishes these Highland storms can be a bit of a drama, Fort William High street was closed for a bit and areas near by had fallen trees and damage to buildings, just another day in the Scottish Highlands, hopefully the sunshine returns soon :)

We would recommend a day out with these guys. As a lodge guest you can fish straight from our private beach on Loch Lochy, but if you want to get out on the water for a guided fishing adventure you will have a great time with West Coast Fishing Charters

Some useful information from Ben Nevis Visitors Centre!
The Scottish Outdoor Access Code is so important and helps everyone enjoy our lovely landscape in the best way.

160,000 visitors climb Ben Nevis every year, and a lot of people who come to enjoy the highlands, aren’t sure about the access code and have a lot of questions!

That’s where we come in - at the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre our role, is to educate and inform people about the Glen Nevis area. This includes helping to teach people about the Scottish access code.

The Scottish Outdoor Access Code is based on three key principles:
• Respect the interests of others.
• Care for the environment.
• Take responsibility for your own actions.

We want to make sure that everyone can enjoy the highlands, so if you aren’t sure or have questions why not ask us! Or read up on:
https://www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/act-and-access-code/scottish-outdoor-access-code-visitors-and-land-managers/what-scottish-outdoor-access-code

https://www.nevislandscape.co.uk/visiting-the-area/minimise-your-impact

Answers to these questions:
“Can I leave fruit skin on the mountain?" A large part of the Scottish Access code is ‘Leave no trace’, this means leaving the area as if you had never been there. The Highlands have an extremely delicate ecosystem, leaving foreign matter such as fruit skins, upsets this balance and causes damage. So imagine, what if everyone left she fruit skins on the mountains?

“Can my dog be off the lead?” Yes - you can have your dog off the lead. However dogs should be kept on the lead around livestock - there are sheep on the lower slopes of ben nevis.

“Are there bins on top of Ben Nevis?” No - every person enjoying the outdoors is expected to follow “Leave no trace” and take all rubbish down with them.

“What do I do if I need the loo?” - It takes 12 months for a poo to biodegrade. human waste carries all sorts of parasites and bacteria, which are harmful and extremely unpleasant for humans, flora and fauna. As Nevis Landscape Partnership highlights, there are key steps you can take to be part of the solution:
Go before you leave your accommodation or use the local facilities if you can.
Buy a Go Anywhere Waste Kit Bag and learn how to use it. This will let you pack out your waste in a hygenic manner and leave absolutely no trace.”

We are passionate about protecting and preserving the Highlands — but we can’t do it alone. With your help, we can look after this incredible place beautiful and welcoming for future generations.
If you are unsure about anything, just ask us. That’s what we are here for!
