🦧🌿 There aren't many wildlife encounters quite like seeing an orangutan swinging through the rainforest.

Borneo is one of the best places to experience these incredible animals in the wild. Deep in the rainforest, you can spend your time looking up into the canopy, hoping to catch a glimpse of an orangutan moving between the trees.

And when you finally spot one, it’s hard not to stop and watch.

Orangutans are incredibly intelligent and fascinating animals, and seeing them in their natural environment really gives you an appreciation for just how special they are.

It's also a great reminder of how important these rainforests are and why protecting their habitat matters so much. 🌳

£60 TO SECURE YOUR SUMMER 2028 HOLIDAY?

One of the things we really like about Jet2holidays is the £60 per person deposit available on its standard packages.

For a family planning a summer holiday, particularly during the expensive school holiday weeks, that can make budgeting much easier.

You can secure your chosen holiday with a relatively small initial payment and plan for the remaining balance over time.

But there's something important to remember.

Our recommendation: Don't let a low deposit persuade you to book a holiday you're not sure about. The deposit is non-refundable, and you're committing to the booking terms, so make sure the dates, hotel and overall cost work for you.

For families who know what they want, though, it's a very useful option.

🦥🌴 Who wouldn't want to see a sloth in Costa Rica?

There’s something about sloths that makes people instantly fall in love with them. They’re slow, sleepy and spend most of their lives hanging around in the trees, but seeing one in the wild is a completely different experience from seeing one in a zoo.

Costa Rica is an amazing place for wildlife, and you never quite know what you might spot while exploring the rainforest. Then you look up and there it is... a little face peering down from the trees!

They might not be the fastest animal around, but spotting a sloth in the wild is definitely one of those moments that makes a trip memorable. 🌿

And of course, the sloth is just one of the 10 wildlife encounters we've picked out that are worth travelling for.

🌴 Exciting news from the Indian Ocean!

It was lovely to welcome Sam Orbell Beachcomber to our office today, catching up on everything that's new with one of our favourite Indian Ocean partners.

And there was certainly plenty to talk about!

🌴 A brand-new destination is coming! We’re sworn to secrecy until 2 November, but we can reveal that Beachcomber is introducing a new hotel in a new destination, and Gilly is particularly excited because it could be the perfect addition to an African safari!

🏖️ Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa has had a beautiful makeover. One of our favourite resorts in Mauritius has reopened following a major renovation. Its two and three-bedroom private pool villas are particularly appealing for families, and Mauritius can offer surprisingly good value during our summer school holidays.

💪 Fitness on holiday is getting serious! From fantastic sporting facilities to HYROX-style training, there's plenty for guests who like to keep active between cocktails and beach time.

🐢 And then there's the Seychelles. We talked about the extraordinary wildlife and conservation at Fregate Island, along with the incredible fly-fishing experiences on Alphonse Island.

THREE GENERATIONS. ONE HOLIDAY. VERY DIFFERENT IDEAS OF FUN! ☀️

Multi-generational holidays can be absolutely wonderful, but finding somewhere that works for grandparents, parents and children isn't always straightforward.

The children might want waterslides and activities. Parents might be hoping for some relaxation, while grandparents may appreciate good restaurants, comfortable accommodation and somewhere peaceful to enjoy a book.

Gilly says: "Having done quite a few multi-generational holidays myself, I personally love a hotel where I can enjoy an adults-only breakfast. Anything before my morning coffee is an ordeal, and a little peace and quiet first thing makes all the difference!

"My advice is to think beyond whether a hotel is simply described as family-friendly. Look at how the resort is laid out, whether there are quieter areas for adults, the dining arrangements and whether everyone can enjoy themselves independently."

"The best multi-generational holidays aren't about spending every minute together. They're about having the freedom to do your own thing and then coming together to enjoy those special moments."

And if you're planning a holiday for three generations, particularly during the school holidays, starting early gives you a much better choice of room types and accommodation close together.

🐆 There’s something pretty special about seeing a leopard in the wild.

Sri Lanka is one of those places where you can head out on safari with absolutely no idea what you’re going to see. You might spend hours watching elephants, birds and other wildlife, then suddenly someone spots a leopard resting in the trees or walking through the grass.

And just like that, everyone in the jeep is completely silent!

Sri Lankan leopards are incredibly impressive animals and seeing one in its natural habitat is a real wildlife highlight. They can be surprisingly difficult to spot too, which makes that moment when you finally find one even more exciting.

If wildlife is your thing, Sri Lanka is definitely a destination worth putting on the list. 🇱🇰🌿

Good morning from Gilly ☕️

Why do people book with us? Good question! 🙋‍♀️

It's Saturday morning, I've been enjoying my coffee in bed, my first client meeting isn't until 10.30am, and yet before 8.30am I'd already…

✈️ Answered a question about the new SARS online declaration for South Africa. Our clients are flying tomorrow.

🚢 Answered a question about what happens to unused onboard credit at the end of a cruise. They're disembarking tomorrow.

🚗 Contacted a transfer driver to explain that his guests had overslept and were running late, and asked him to wait. Their transfer was due right then!

Three completely different questions, but one thing in common. They all needed an answer there and then.
And that's a huge part of what we do at Your Holiday Concierge. We're not just here to book holidays. We're here to answer questions, solve problems and take away the little worries that come with travelling.

And something I've learnt over the years is that every question makes us better at what we do. If one client needs an answer, you can be pretty sure another will ask the same thing. So we learn, we share that knowledge across the team and we're better prepared for the next client.

It's one of the reasons experience and personal service matter so much.

Booking the holiday is just the beginning. It's everything that comes afterwards that makes the difference.
And the lovely thing is, I managed all of this while enjoying my Saturday morning coffee in bed. ☕️

Now, I'd better get moving. My first appointment is at 10.30am! 😊
