Choosing the right Sandals resort can completely change the holiday you end up having. They’re all adults-only and ultra all-inclusive, but the feel varies a lot by island — and that’s the bit most people only realise after they’ve booked.

If you want my personal pick, I’d choose Antigua. It’s a great fit if what you’re after is a luxury vibe where you can properly switch off. Antigua feels made for couples who want their days to be simple: slow mornings, long lunches, and that “we don’t need to go anywhere” kind of easy. If you’re planning a honeymoon or an anniversary and you want it to feel special without being hard work, it’s a strong option.

Right now there’s up to £300 off Sandals when you book between 27 August and 30 September 2026, with travel available through 31 December 2028. If Sandals is on your radar, it’s worth exploring while that offer window is open.

If you’ve ever looked at Norwegian Cruise Line and thought, “Where do I even start?” you’re not alone. They’ve got 20 ships, and they’re not all the same. One might feel like a big, buzzy resort at sea. Another feels calmer and more grown-up. Same cruise line. Totally different holiday.

Two things I really like about NCL. First, Freestyle Cruising. It’s a more relaxed way to cruise, without everything feeling too formal. Second, the sheer choice on board. Dining and entertainment can be a big part of the trip, and NCL tends to do that well. If you want to level it up, The Haven is worth knowing about too.

You know that trip you’ve talked about for years — “One day we’ll do the Christmas markets properly”? If that’s you, this is your sign to stop keeping it as a vague plan.

One of the easiest ways to experience Europe’s best markets is by river cruise. You unpack once, then the ship does the moving. No juggling train times, no dragging cases across cobbles, no switching hotels every other night. You step off, wander the market with a mulled w**e, then come back to a warm cabin and dinner waiting.

If you’re not sure where to start, the Danube route I’ve highlighted in the carousel (Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest) is a brilliant first Christmas market cruise. You get three very different cities, proper “storybook” scenery after dark, and the markets are big enough to feel special without being a slog.

Just got back from your summer holiday and already have the holiday blues?

Here’s a good reason to start thinking about next year.
easyJet holidays have a Zero Deposit window this week, which means you can secure an eligible 2027 holiday without paying a deposit today. It’s a handy option if you want to lock something in while you decide on the finer details (or while you’re waiting for diaries, annual leave and school dates to line up).

A few other reasons it’s worth looking now:
