An introduction from me π
Hello, I'm Jonathan β founder of Blue Light Escapes. Now feels like the right time to share a bit about me and why I started this.
I joined the police at 21. It was all I ever wanted to do. I've spent my career on the frontline, responding to life-or-death emergencies and helping and protecting people when they need it most.
But over time, the trauma, loss, relentless pressure and chronic stress (constantly in a fight-or-flight response) quietly took a toll on my mental and physical health and on the people I love.
A few years ago, I experienced complete burnout.
I'd been stuck in an unhealthy cycle for a long time β pushing on, not processing, not pausing. Neglecting the self-care needed to stay well. You can't pour from an empty cup.
I took time off to pause, reflect and get psychological support. That period taught me two things I'll never forget:
1οΈβ£ It's okay not to be okay, and asking for help matters.
2οΈβ£ Regular breaks aren't a luxury. They're essential for rest, recovery and being present with the people who matter most.
Out of that difficult chapter came something I'm genuinely proud of β Blue Light Escapes. A business with a clear mission: to make rest, recovery and connection more accessible, personal and affordable for the blue light and armed forces community.
The journey hasn't been easy. But what we're building truly matters, and we're building it with the community, for the community.
Thank you for being here from the start π
