☘🍺🏖Dublin Weekend: Pints, Parks, Then a Seaside Stroll🍺🏖☘

Dublin is brilliant for a short break.
But the real magic is what’s outside the city.

You don’t need a car.🚗❌
You can swap city streets for sea air in under an hour.

Here are my three favourite easy add-ons to a Dublin weekend:

HOWTH (north of Dublin)
Take the DART train from central Dublin (Connolly, Tara Street, Pearse, Grand Canal Dock).
You’ll be there in around 30–40 minutes.

Why go: harbour vibes, seafood, and big coastal views.

Do this: the Howth Summit Walk (Howth Cliff Path Loop).
Choose a short or long loop. It’s roughly 1–3 hours depending on route and stops.
Top tips: trainers with grip, light waterproof, and take your time. The views are the point.

BRAY (south of Dublin)
Also easy on the DART. Around 40–55 minutes from central Dublin.

Why go: classic seaside feel, a long promenade stroll, and Bray Head for views.
It’s a great “low effort, high reward” half-day.

DALKEY (south of Dublin)
DART again. About 25–35 minutes from central Dublin.

Why go: pretty streets, smart little cafés, and a calmer pace.
It’s also known for attracting the rich and famous. People often link it with names like Bono, and the late Shane MacGowan lived locally too. It’s understated, not flashy… which somehow makes it even nicer.

Howth + Summit Walk + late lunch by the harbour. Done.
