World Champion visits Stonehaven and comes on our walking tour to Dunnottar Castle.
It was a great pleasure to walk with Daniele Cassioli and his partner Giulia Castiglioni from Milan. Daniele who has been blind from birth has been part of the Italian National Water skiing team since the age of 10. Since then he has won 25 World Cup Gold medals 25 European Gold Medals and 41 Italian Championship Gold Medals and is classed as the greatest Paralympic nautical skier of all time. He holds the world record in specialty of jumping, in figures and slalom. Daniele was also named in the Italian Sports Awards as Paralympic sportsman of the year in 2012 and 2014 . Daniele has achieved many other awards and honours and even managed to drive a car completing 10 laps of a circuit at a speed of 50.66 km a record time never recorded before by a blind person. Daniele is now a member of the Italian Paralympic Committee and also the founder of a charity to encourage children with visual impairment to get involved in sport.
