This is why I love my job. 🥰 Reviews like this completely rejuvenate me and give me a love for hosting. Fellow hosts know it’s not easy. It’s hard work, physically and mentally. I drop everything for my guests. If there’s ever a problem during their stay I am immediately on it. When my guests love my house and what I can offer it means the world to me. Welcome to the Killingworth Castle. This charming public house has won way too many awards to mention. The food and bar and staff are outstanding. It’s super busy. We arrived at opening time, hence it looks empty. We had the Sunday lunch. It was divine. I’d highly recommend a visit. Plus it’s only 15mins door to door. Booking is a must.

When you stay at Hollyhock House. You can visit The Chequers at Churchill. It’s about a 20min drive. But well worth it. It’s voted a favourite for anyone visiting the area. The food is delicious and the bar is well stocked. It’s a local haunt from Diddly Squat team.

Skip the rat race.. the back patio at Hollyhock House is truly amazing. It’s a sanctuary for wildlife. I’m sat here in the morning sun. Turtle doves are cooing, Robins popping in to say hello. Deers wondering in the field beyond. The sound of rustling leaving from the trees. If you want peace and quiet. Somewhere to relax. Book a weekend. It will do you the world of good.

We are lucky that the house is naturally cool due to the thick walls and stone floors. But it’s still nice to have fans around to bring added comfort. Each summer to switch to 1tog summer duvets so it’s more comfortable for our guests. We also have decorative top quits and spare bedding in wardrobes should you want them. Or just ask me for more bedding. It’s no problem. Book for Sept and catch the tail end of summer.
