We are now over half way through our Whales and Wildlife cruise and we have been spoiled with sightings! Tens of Minke Whales, hundreds of Common Dolphins, 20+ Risso’s Dolphins and a Humpback Whale! A few more days to go so we’re keeping our eyes peeled for more.

A shout-out to Steve, our brilliant onboard chef!

We’re still not quite sure how he does it – cooking up incredible meals day after day, night after night from the tiniest galley kitchen you’ve ever seen. But somehow, every dish is a winner.

North Rona. Sula Sgeir.

Some of the most remote and spectacular places in the British Isles and the highlights of one of our recent cruises.

It was a special one. Wild seas, incredible wildlife, and the chance to step ashore on North Rona to visit its lighthouse and soak up the island’s beauty. Sula Sgeir’s gannet colony was as unforgettable as ever.

We’re really looking forward to this one!

This September, we’re setting off on a special cruise that ties in with the Hebridean Whisky Festival – sailing from Oban to Harris and visiting some of the most iconic distilleries in the islands along the way.

We’ll be stopping at Torabhaig, Talisker, Benbecula, North Uist, and finishing at Harris Distillery in time for the festival finale.

It’s a brilliant way to experience the festival – by sea, at a slower pace, with time to explore the islands (and spot some incredible wildlife while we're at it).

Our latest cruise – what a week!

We've just returned from an unforgettable week aboard Hjalmar Bjorge, expertly guided by wildlife photographer and naturalist Chris Gomersall. Setting off from Oban, we explored Loch na Droma Buidhe, Lochmaddy, the Shiants, Caolas Scalpay, Canna, Lunga, Gometra and Loch Spelve – before returning to Oban, tired but very happy!

The wildlife didn’t disappoint. From white-tailed and golden eagles to puffins, storm-petrels, corncrake and even a minke whale – every day brought something special. Common and grey seals, porpoises, dolphins, and a red deer or two made appearances too.

We also enjoyed some cracking weather, dramatic scenery, peaceful anchorages, and a lovely bunch of guests who made the whole trip even better.

Sail into the spirit of the Hebrides!

This September, we're offering something a bit special — a cruise from Oban to Harris that follows the latter half of the Hebridean Whisky Festival 2025.

Running from 8th–14th September, this relaxed, whisky-rich adventure aboard the Hjalmar Bjorge takes in distillery visits to Torabhaig, Talisker, Benbecula, North Uist, and ends with the festival finale at the Isle of Harris Distillery.

Along the way there’ll be tastings, behind-the-scenes tours, island walks, incredible food, and chances to spot whales and dolphins – all in the company of a small group of like-minded travellers.

7 out of 8 of our cruises bound for St Kilda over the past two seasons made it there and some stayed for 2 nights, giving guests a full day on the island.

That’s a stat we’re proud of, and one that anyone familiar with these waters will know isn’t easy to achieve.
