You’ve probably heard all about e-gates in the news recently... but now you might be wondering, will you be able to use the e-gates when travelling abroad through Europe?

There are three different scenarios of how European countries allow UK citizens to use e-gates at passport control. You may have:

➡️No access at all
➡️Occasional access, which is granted at the border’s discretion
➡️Access all the time

On occasions where you’re allowed through an e-gate in Europe, you’ll still need to have your passport stamped to monitor how long you’ve been in the country.

However, this could change once EES (EU entry/exit system) is introduced, which is due in October.
