Starline Narrowboats are looking for Part Time Diesel Engineer preferably with marine experience and able / willing to work on other aspects of marine maintenance Might suit active retired person.

We are also looking for part time person with ability in Social Media IT Facebook etc. to help with promotional work and internet shop setup. Might suit student to work weekends.

HOLIDAYMAKERS were rescued after a hire boat got caught in fast-flowing river water and slammed into a bank.

Starline Called in to Assist Stranded Boat on the treacherous upper reaches of the River Severn.

Two of our team had the rare opportunity to take in the views of the non-navigable stretch of the River Severn on bank holiday Monday to assist in the rescue of a hire boat belonging to one of the UK's largest hire boat companies. The stricken vessel was piloted into the shallow, fast flowing and treacherous waters on the upper stretches near Bewdley by its crew.
The crew had been rescued by the fire and rescue services the previous night however it soon became apparent that they would be unable to recover the Narrowboat due to the depth of water and speed of the current. First class helmsmanship and rope work by our team enabled us to throw a line to the vessel and carefully tow them backwards avoiding rocks, swells and over hanging trees. For a short time both boats were swept sideways along the river but once again, excellent helmsmanship finally steered both boats away from the current and they returned safely to our base in Stourport with minimal damage.
Two positives to come out of the situation for us, the boat and crew from the other company were eventually able to carry on their holiday after a few checks and we demonstrated our skills as first class boat handlers in a very risky situation. Well done to everyone involved for making sure that this rescue went as smoothly and as safely as possible.

What an absolutely stunning day to be out and about on the Canal! Not one of our hire boats but a member of the teams getting ready to come out of the water for a good paint.
