Whistler & Blackcomb 🏔️
Started up the Whistler Village Gondola to the top of Whistler Mountain, grabbed a few photos by the Olympic rings, then hopped on the Peak Express Chair. Properly rickety thing, swinging over rocks and little drops, the boys and Donna weren’t loving it ❤️😅
Got to the top and did the Raven’s Eye lookout, views right across the valley and out to the mountains beyond, honestly insane. From there we walked Matthews Traverse (had to, given the name) and then down Pika’s Traverse round the back of the summit to the gondola station.
Jumped on the Peak 2 Peak next, that huge line strung between the two mountains, over to Blackcomb for a wander and some photos before heading back across to drop down the Whistler side. Kept half an eye out for bears but the real show was the mountain bikers, gondola up then straight down these trails weaving through the trees, so many of them. Respect, because we’d be on our faces in about ten seconds.
Dusty trails, properly hot sun, but the whole set up is so well run. Little bit of history too, Whistler Village itself only went up around 1980, purpose built as a car free pedestrian village from what used to be forest and an old dump. Explains why it feels almost too neat and Disney ish for a mountain town, because it kind of was designed that way from scratch.
