As we say goodbye to Cape Town and head off to the Greater Kruger, there’s someone we simply couldn’t leave without recognising.

Meet Tumi. 🙌🏼

For the past week, Tumi has been so much more than our driver. He’s been our guide, our local expert, our problem solver and, most importantly, someone we’ve genuinely come to call a friend.

From his brilliant suggestions and local knowledge to his patience, kindness and the way he’s looked after every single one of us, he’s been absolutely incredible.

And this is exactly why I started African Sunset Getaways. ❤️

Not every beautiful day needs blue skies and sunshine.

Sometimes it’s as simple as finding a little café by the ocean, ordering a coffee and a freshly baked croissant, and watching the world go by. ☕🥐🌊

A little stop at La Belle in Camps Bay this morning, and another reminder of why I absolutely love this country.

There’s something special about South Africa. The scenery, the people, the food, the atmosphere… and those unexpected little moments you never planned for.

🐋🇿🇦 WOW!! What an incredible experience in Hermanus today!

There’s something quite extraordinary about being out on the ocean and seeing these magnificent Southern Right Whales in their natural environment.

We’ve spent the day whale watching off the coast of Hermanus, and what an experience it’s been! ❤️

You can see photographs and watch documentaries, but nothing quite prepares you for seeing these enormous, beautiful animals with your own eyes.

I’ve always said South Africa has so much more to offer than just a safari. Don’t get me wrong, the African bush will always have my heart, but days like today remind me just how special this country really is.

One day you’re enjoying the vineyards and mountains of the Cape, the next you’re out on the ocean watching whales. And before you know it, you could be sitting around a fire in the African bush listening to lions roaring in the distance.

This is South Africa. And this is why I love sharing it with people. 🇿🇦❤️

🐋 Off to Hermanus today for a bit of whale watching! 🇿🇦

Another beautiful morning in South Africa, and we’re on the road again!

Our driver Tumelo was bang on time this morning, ready to take us down to Hermanus for what will hopefully be a very special day.

October is a fantastic time to visit, with Southern Right Whales coming into the waters along the Western Cape coast to breed and raise their calves. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for some incredible sightings today! 🐋

One thing I’ve always loved about South Africa is just how much this country has to offer. Everyone thinks of the Big Five and going on safari, but there’s so much more to experience.

From the bush to the beaches, the mountains, the vineyards and now hopefully whales!

This is what African Sunset Getaways UK is all about. Getting out there, experiencing these places ourselves and helping others discover just how special South Africa really is.
