World Animal Day, and the uncomfortable truth about animal travel: a lot of it is bad for the animals. 🐘

Elephant rides. Cub petting. Swim-with attractions. Still sold, still booked, mostly by people who genuinely love animals and have no idea.

Our animal welfare and conservation programmes are built the other way round. Sea turtle conservation in Sri Lanka 🐢, elephant care in Thailand 🐘, animal welfare projects in Cape Town 🐾. The animal isn't there to entertain anyone. Volunteers support the people already doing this work, long after the volunteer has flown home.

So today belongs to them: the sanctuary staff, the vets, the conservation teams, the hatchery keepers who are up at 5am whether anyone's watching or not. 💚
