Back in 2018 this little seal highlighted a growing problem within the UK.
Flying rings were being imported in their 1,000's and many 100's were being lost or discarded on our beaches and near waterways.
Curious seals like the one in this photo saw these floating objects as toys...a few moments of natural curiosity and the seal is entrapped as the flying ring goes over it's head and is stuck fast.
The pain and suffering as infection sets in to its broken skin is the start of its misery. The ring will get tighter and tighter as the seal grows.
Need I go on?
However, there is an immediate solution and that is the solid disc frisbee...it's seal and wildlife safer....is immediately available and preferably one which is made of non plastic.
Only use, buy or sell solid disc frisbees please.
We have a petition with over 57,000 signatures which we really want to reach 100,000 asap.
Please sign our petition urging the Government to ban the import and sale of flying rings: https://www.change.org/SaveOurSealsFromFlyingRings
We are in Parliament on the 17th June 2026 meeting MP's so we need to increase our petition numbers well before then.
Please help us and ask everyone to sign and share...we can put a stop to animal suffering by just making a few small changes.
