ONE MONTH TO GO… 🇦🇺

In a month’s time I’ll be heading off to Australia for FOUR WEEKS!

I’ll be starting in Perth before heading off on a three-week adventure around Western Australia, taking in the Coral Coast, Esperance and Margaret River, before flying across to Brisbane and Sydney for the final 8 nights.

It’s going to be a pretty packed month — and I suspect I’ll need a holiday to recover from my holiday!

I’ll have my laptop with me and will still be keeping an eye on things, but realistically I’m not going to have loads of time for work when I’m busy exploring Australia.

Thankfully, my brilliant team and colleagues will be looking after my clients while I’m away, so you’ll still be in very good hands.

There’s a reason experience matters.

Ten years as a Travel Counsellor. Thousands of hotels, destinations, suppliers and itineraries researched, experienced and learnt about along the way.

And a rather large ‘little black book’ of people I can call when I need to.

Because booking travel isn’t just about finding a price online.

It’s knowing which hotel is genuinely worth the extra £££. Which room you should avoid. Which destination will suit you, rather than simply being the one currently trending on Instagram. Who to call when something goes wrong. And which ‘amazing deal’ isn’t quite as amazing as it looks.

Great news if you've been holding off booking that long-haul holiday.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has just lifted its advice against all but essential travel to key transit hubs in the Middle East, including Dubai and Doha.

Why does this matter?

For many popular destinations such as Thailand, the Maldives, Bali, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Australia, some of the best flight options involve changing planes in the Middle East.

The latest FCDO update gives us all reassurance that these major international hubs are once again safe for transit.

Airlines including Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad continue to offer excellent connections (and fares!) to destinations across the globe, often with shorter journey times, generous baggage allowances and high levels of service.

If you've been putting off booking a trip because of the Middle East situation, now could be a good time to revisit those plans.

But when something goes unexpectedly right, like arriving to find a better room waiting for you, that rarely happens by accident. Is your summer holiday really at risk? The headlines say yes but the data says something very different.

The UK travel industry is open, operating, and ready for summer 2026 and here’s the proof.
🔹 Less than 1% of UK flights have been cancelled since early May which is well well within normal seasonal levels
🔹 UK airlines have confirmed there is no jet fuel shortage
🔹 Fuel suppliers are reporting increased production and additional imports from regions unaffected by the Middle East conflict
🔹 The UK government has confirmed there is no need for passengers to change their travel plans
🔹 Jet2 CEO Steve Heapy confirmed this week: “This summer is on”

The only thing running low right now is accurate reporting. 😉

If you’ve already booked you can relax. But if you’re still planning, don’t let the headlines put you off. Just make sure you book the right way.
