Morocco 2025 Continued ......Other highlights of the trip included networking with fellow travel professionals from across the UK and engaging in insightful discussions with representatives from the Moroccan National Tourist Office, as well as key figures from the country's tourism sector.

We were treated to a vibrant performance of the traditional Berber dance, Ahidous. Men and women from the local community danced in unison, clapping and moving rhythmically to the beat of drums and chanting. Dressed in colourful Amazigh attire, they brought this ancient cultural tradition to life, offering us a memorable glimpse into Berber heritage.

A heartfelt thank you to ATAS for the incredible opportunity to participate in the ATAS Experiences - Morocco 2025. I’m also grateful to G Adventures and Riviera Travel for the outstanding day tours, and to the Moroccan National Tourist Office.

It was a truly enriching experience, offering valuable insights into all that Morocco has to offer. I cannot wait to go back in the future 😊

Morocco Day 3 - Today, we journeyed deeper into the breathtaking Atlas Mountains, driving approximately an hour and a half to a remote Berber village, where we were warmly welcomed by Mohamed and his family. Our wonderful G-Adventures guide, Sophia, acted as translator, helping us connect with our hosts and their way of life.

Upon arrival, Mohamed’s sister gave us a fascinating demonstration of traditional bread-making, showing us how they knead the dough and bake it in a wood-fired clay oven. We then watched the family prepare a classic Moroccan tagine, made with fresh, home grown ingredients—and later had the pleasure of enjoying it for lunch.

We then set out on a scenic 1.5-hour hike to the impressive Cathedral Imsfrane, a dramatic natural rock formation that rises to 1,872 metres. Its towering cliffs resemble the façade of a Gothic cathedral, carved over millennia by wind and water. The trail itself was stunning, weaving through rugged terrain with sweeping views of the surrounding valleys.

As we walked, Mohamed and Sophia introduced us to various wild herbs and native plants, explaining their traditional uses in Berber medicine and cooking. Along the way, we met friendly locals Mohamed knew—adding an even more personal touch to the experience.

Upon returning to the village, we were treated to a fabulous tagine, bursting with flavour.

It was a perfect balance of culture, nature, and connection—an unforgettable highlight of our Moroccan trip.

You might think you know what to pack for hand luggage, but UK airports are stuck between old and new rules—and it’s catching travellers out every day. The 100ml liquid limit is still very much alive at most airports, despite the talk of new scanners.

Don’t risk delays or having your favourite toiletries confiscated.

Morocco – Day 2 Continued.....
After a delicious lunch, we set off on a scenic 1.5-hour journey by minibus to one of Morocco’s natural treasures – the stunning Ouzoud Waterfalls. This Riviera Travel excursion took us deep into the heart of the Atlas Mountains, where we were greeted by the thunderous roar of the falls cascading 110 metres into the gorge below – making them the third highest waterfalls in all of Africa!

As we explored the area, we were lucky enough to spot some of the local residents – wild Barbary macaques (often called Berber monkeys) A perfect mix of dramatic scenery and unexpected wildlife encounters!

Day 2 - Visit to Aït Chribou Eco Dôme Village

Here, everything is built using natural and recycled materials. The eco-domes are truly unique and are hand-built by local craftsmen, made primarily from clay and lime.

Each eco-dome is made up of three connected domes: an entrance, a bedroom, and a bathroom with a shower and toilet.

We also got to sample the famous Moroccan mint tea.

Day 1 continued.....
After a fabulous lunch at the five-star Dar Rhizlane hotel in Marrakech, we embarked on a scenic three-and-a-half-hour journey by minibus to the Widiane Resort. Nestled in the foothills of the Mid Atlas Mountains by the picturesque Lake Bin el Ouidane, the resort would be our home for the next three nights.

Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending the ATAS Experience in Morocco. Over the coming days, I’ll be sharing highlights from my time there.

The night before my flight, I stayed at the Bloc Hotel, conveniently located within the South Terminal at Gatwick Airport. It was an ideal choice for an early morning departure—just a few steps from the check-in desks.

Day 1
The day began with an early start at Gatwick’s South Terminal for a British Airways flight to Marrakech. The flight was smooth and took just over three hours. Upon arrival, we were promptly transferred to the beautiful Dar Rhizlane hotel for a welcome lunch and the opportunity to meet fellow travel agents arriving from various UK airports.
