🍹 Our first cocktail on our first full day had to be a margarita—and we finished the night with a delicious Coffee Colada! 😍

Both were absolutely amazing… although I have to admit, my lockdown margaritas were better—probably because they contained a little more tequila! 😂🍸

🌴 Decisions, decisions at Shandrani… 🌴

The sun has been playing hide and seek a little on our first day, so in between making the most of the sunshine, we’ve been having a look at all the water sports included in our stay. ☀️🌊

There’s plenty to choose from:

🛶 Kayaking
🚤 Pedalos
🏄 Paddleboarding
⛵ Sailing
🌬️ Windsurfing
🤿 Trips out to the reef for snorkelling
🐠 Glass-bottom boat trips
🎿 Water skiing

…and they’re all included in the price of our stay. 💛

I have to admit, I really fancy having a go at the sailing! ⛵

If you haven’t sailed before, you can apparently have an hour’s lesson for just £15, which seems a great way to give it a try without committing to anything too serious.

So… has anyone tried sailing before?
How difficult is it for a complete beginner? 😁

I’m very tempted… although Jo may be safer staying on the beach with the camera! 😂

✈️ Our Mauritius Journey – Part 1 🇲🇺

Before flying from Gatwick, we decided to spend some time in Windsor—and we’re so glad we did.

🚗 Windsor

We parked right in the centre for a very reasonable £11. Windsor Castle was amazing, and we had a lovely time exploring it. We would have liked a little longer to quietly pay our respects to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, but it was very busy, so everyone had to keep moving.

The castle grounds were beautiful and pleasantly understated rather than overly elaborate. Windsor was a lovely way to begin our trip.

🏨 Holiday Inn Gatwick

Our room was comfortable, with a very comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent, with a good selection, and the restaurant wasn’t too busy.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and reception arranged our taxi to the airport. It cost £23.00each way, and the journey took around 10 minutes.

🛫 Gatwick Airport

Departures were nice and smooth, and then we headed to My Lounge North.

Everything was self-service, which worked really well. The food was lovely—we enjoyed chicken gyros with salad, hummus, breads and olives. There was also a small selection of cakes, and the lemon drizzle was beautiful!

There was a standard selection of self-service drinks, all served in a relaxed atmosphere. It was a great way to start our holiday.

✈️ The flight

Our flight was slightly delayed and took around 11 hours and 30 minutes. It was a little bumpy at times, but we enjoyed a nice meal and a few glasses of red wine while watching films.

After a few hours’ sleep, breakfast was served, and we had a very smooth landing in Mauritius.

Our private transfer to Shandrani took only around 10 minutes. The driver was lovely and shared some helpful local knowledge along the way.

A smooth and enjoyable start to our Mauritius adventure! 🇲🇺🌴

Copenhagen left us wanting more—so where are we heading for this year’s festive escape? 🎄✈️

After coming home from Copenhagen last year, we knew we did not want it to be our last Christmas market break.

We loved having a few days to slow down, explore somewhere new and enjoy the build-up to Christmas together. It was festive without being rushed and gave us memories that lasted far beyond the journey home.

So, we came back and booked this year's escape to Tromso.

We are already looking forward to lots of possibilities we might even see the Northern lights who knows ! and we are looking forward to the views over the city in the evening ,and we will be visiting the Christmas market, and, of course, we will share our honest experience and plenty of inspiration while we are there.

One of the best parts of being personal travel consultants is experiencing destinations ourselves. It helps us understand the little details that can turn a good trip into a really special one.

And we’re off… Mauritius, here we come. ✈️🌴

We are on board, settled in and waiting to take off.

After all the planning, countdowns and dreaming about this trip, it suddenly feels very real.

The next time we speak to you, we should be on the other side and ready to begin our Mauritius adventure.

We cannot wait to experience it for ourselves, share some of the journey with you and bring back plenty of first-hand ideas and inspiration for future holidays.

For now, it is time to sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.
