There is something particularly atmospheric about Honfleur in autumn, when the pace of this historic harbour town begins to slow and the changing light settles across the Vieux-Bassin.

With its narrow, slate-clad houses, leisure boats and centuries-old maritime heritage, Honfleur has long drawn people to its harbour. It was also the changing light of the Seine estuary that attracted generations of artists, including Claude Monet and Eugène Boudin.

Autumn's softer light and changing skies give the harbour a constantly shifting atmosphere - something artists have long found compelling here.
